I now have mine. It's maybe is not as smooth as the Barnard P, but does have stronger extraction. Iain is very aware of the extraction issue with Barnard's and has taken steps to improve it. The ejection system is superb - drops the cases in a neat pile on the right - instead of having to search the mound. The left port is larger than the right, so you can load quickly, without the danger of throwing the round right through the action. I'll be talking with him about a smaller action for 223 - mainly for 300m ISSF match. Sometimes you need to go like crazy when the condition is good.Wasn’t this discussed here?
Barnard in Business?
Having recently ( last year) purchased a Barnard S action, I was looking for some spare parts. Things like an extra firing pin, FP Spring, and extractor + spring. It seems as if they have gone out of business. No replies to emails or phone calls n US importer has not had any product for a...forum.accurateshooter.com
The biggest negative concerning the Barnard design is it’s biggest selling point, that being the three lug bolt.
It all looks good on paper, and the idea of having a shorter bolt throw is always appealing.
But it comes at the cost of shorter primary extraction and mechanical advantage.
Any mention of export yet? Timeline maybe?I now have mine. It's maybe is not as smooth as the Barnard P, but does have stronger extraction. I have a Bix n'Andy trigger on mine.
He has also made some Palma actions, for those that want a "P" - no ejection or left port.
I do like the dual port - my first Barnard was an "s" action that I had ported - but that has a left eject. Now my spare FTR rifle.
I'll see Iain on Thursday, and ask. I'm guessing that he will make an arrangement with a US importer at some point.Any mention of export yet? Timeline maybe?
