Barnard P chassis options ?

Really love the design of the Dolphin match rifle chassis, but they are UK and I am in the US. Any US dealers?
Not a fan of the Eliseo tube gun style.
XLR has some nice options but doesn’t list anything for the Barnard P action.
What else is available?

Even though they're based in the UK you might still be able to order a stock from them: their website indicates they will do international stock sales, but you have to call them. The folks at Intershoot might also be able to help: they're based in the UK (specifically Northern Ireland) and I know they'll ship to the US.

In terms of other options, any stock for the Anschutz 20xx (square) action will mount a Barnard P without machining, and I believe has the inletting to accept most Palma barrel profiles. John Whidden makes* an adapter for Barnard P action --> Anschutz square stock.

Are you looking for something for prone/XTC, F-class, or another discipline?

*I recall he's made them in the past, but now of course I can't find them on his site. Mounting a Barnard P to a Precise stock can definitely be done without machining: that's what Whidden uses for a Palma/prone rifle.

Tec-Hro Chassis are excellent! Anschutz Precise is another great option. Either chassis with a V-Block adapter and your good to go! Whidden Gunworks is who you need to call.

Oh yeah, I always forget about the Tec-Hro! That's one of the more reasonably priced options too (though they don't usually come with a buttplate).

Looks like Oberle has a few in stock; they pop up used on Target Talk, et al., from time to time, too.

Im quite sure that Dolphin would be more than happy to put one in the post. Sales tax (VAT) would be removed for export. XLR used to do the Evolution chassis for the "P" - I have one. I don't care for it much and could be persueded...

" Mike and Sam after work on YouTube are using some chassis with their P and GP actions, not sure which. BTW, I think the Eliseo is for the "S" action, not the P. Could be wrong.

Is the Evolution you have custom made? Does it have a mag well for the single shot P?

W, I think the Eliseo is for the "S" action, not the P. Could be wrong.
Gary definitely makes one for the Barnard P -- I have one.

I don't see one listed for the S or the SMS right now, and I don't think his Remington 700 stock will work since the 700 bolt handle lands in a different place (90 degree vs 60 degree on the S/SMS).

I have no idea of it's origin as I bought it used. Its a single shot chassis and uses 3 action bolts, rather than the centre round recoil lug, which is the current recommendation.. I have it in 5BR with a Tru Flite 8 twist. Shoots well enough, although I was planning to change it to 308, it would be too heavy for FTR.

I was able to get ahold of Dolphin in the UK and apparently their 'will ship outside of UK' is meant for dealers and exporters. It wouldn't be cost effective for me to just get 1 stock, will the fees and export licensing.
I may look into the TecHro though, or possibly XLR can customize something for me.

Most of the smallbore chassis' will adapt to the Barnard with a V block. I have an Esprit Carabine chassis that I got from Killough Sports that I love. And of course the Anschutz works well too.

Are you looking for a chassis with a mag well for the single shot "P" action? What type shooting are you intending this stock/action combo for?

prone off a sling
I believe that a guy that makes 22 rifle stocks (anschutz copy; and he makes a 22 action too) makes a chassis for a Barnard P that is single shot. Turbo is the name of the company. I lefty guy palma shooter I shoot with has one. It’s nice. Not as expensive as a anschutz.

Yep, Turbo markets a smallbore rifle that, at least in terms of the stock, is quite close to an Anschutz Precise. I'd bet they could make you one that works with a Barnard without much trouble.

A friend of mine makes a pretty nice chassis for the Barnard P.

You can check them out here:
Mark is a good guy, and a talented machinist.

prone off a sling
If you're going to use this in prone shooting with a sling then there are a couple of things to look for. First, make sure you like the way it fits you and can be adjusted to your likes. Second, get a stock with a rounded forearm. If you look at your support hand it isn't square when you hold the rifle, it's rounded, so pick a stock that has a rounded forearm. These will almost always be a stock made for prone shooting such as the smallbore prone stocks or Eliseo tube gun stocks. The square, flat bottom forearms are good for bench shooting but not for prone. They will "cripple" your support hand during a long string. These things will limit your selections but will make your investment easier to live with down the road. My Esprit Carabine stock wasn't cheap but I have "V" blocks to swap out Barnard, Remington, Walther, and RPA actions and it always feels like the I'm shooting the same rifle whether I'm competing with the Barnard or practicing with the .22LR Walther. Wish I had done this in the beginning, but......
