Barnard Model S, instead of P

Any reason not to use a Model S barnard instead of the long standing model P for an Fclass rifle?

The S is closer to a Rem 700 in size, still sports 3 lugs, and is 7mm longer.

Good info , thanks. Good sturdy action, many don't know about yet. Just received info, that the only difference is they do not use the standard Barnard V block.

The S is actually preferable if you ask me. The P is kinda hefty for a weight-limited gun. They're beautiful actions. The only thing I can think of is that if for some reason you are in love with the Barnard trigger, that only comes on the P. But there are plenty of good remington style triggers. Either one is great.

The S does not come with a Barnard trigger. The S is also lighter than the P model action.

Correct according to Mrs Whidden today, and this from Barnard

We supply this action with a trigger hanger to suit either Timney or Jewel triggers, or with a blank hanger to be modified to the trigger of your choice (such as any "Remington style" clone). This action is supplied as standard with no trigger, but please specify which hanger you require when ordering.

Too bad It can't be used on our existing stocks that have Vblocks

Barnard should update or change their website because it's confusing. I see clicking on the action name gives the description. Did you get a price on the action ?

I'm in new Zealand, the home of Barnard.
I'm planning a build with the s action. Like said it just comes with the hanger.
The s should nearly drop into a Remington short action stock. The recoil lug is a bit further forward. If using the remington style. And the ejector cutout needs to be made a bit longer I think. But pretty much fits in.
I'm planning on getting the safety cut out to fit my Remington Timney trigger with safety.
Its a pain they don't show prices, but I can tell you its about $1500. Nzd

What is confusing? It looks clear enough to me ....

The action size above does not match the list below. Splitting hairs maybe, but I like stuff orderly.

JP,

So that's about $1100 USD before any import tax, etc. Very close to the P without the trigger. .Good tip on the safety cutout. I was looking at building a repeater if we could get them here but I need a working safety. Wonder if Jewell still makes the trigger guard safety?

When MT Guns was selling Barnards, I noticed that the US prices fluctuated quite a bit with exchange rates. That's probably why they don't post prices.
