Barnard in Business?

Thanks for the update, even if its a shame to hear about.

Of the other company, can you share their details?
I would rather not, at this stage. He is a top F-Class shooter and a fine engineer. The action will be an upgrade to a Barnard, if you can believe that! I don't want to comment - as I don't know what commercial arrangements are in place - - and not my place to guess. I'm sure that it will become public knowledge very soon - and I look forward to getting mine to add to the 3 Barnards that I own - including a 1981, serial number 15,

I hope someone/ somehow will make replacement parts for the P model. I sure would like to get a 223 bolt.

Barnard per se is now in the history books unfortunately. The completely new company will be producing an improved version with the same footprint such that they will go straight into existing Barnard bedding. Will take any Remington footprint triggers. The lug design is different which will making working the action smoother. Dual port will be available and the bolt head is interchangeable to all the main options. Keep an eye out for the reveal.

Hazard of any custom product I guess, they will outlast the folk that make them. Internet has probably helped immensely with repairing some of the product that has disappeared, in finding someone who can repair existing, or is making something similar that works the same way, many of them being undavertised and home made and availability spread by word of mouth only.

ChrisNZ is right about the management being more to blame than Covid, even with a large amount of support from the Kiwi target guys with advise and loyalty. As for parts for P and S actions, speaking to Iian about the Tri-May action and it's parts - most vital parts are directly interchangeable between late model Barnards and the Tri-May unless you are looking for trigger bits.

Those legacy actions will more than likely need to get a local gunsmith to make parts - those parts recovered by Barnard in buy backs are reported as destroyed unless selected for the museum collection which seems to have vanished. The stock of genuine Barnard spares is currently only what is in the market ie next to nothing and not likely to improve any time soon with the legal issues being faced by the owners.
