Ballistics Software Question?

I don't think Strelok runs on Apple. I run on Android and strongly prefer it. Money goes to a Russian, not Russia. He is so busy giving strong online help to his users, I don't see him as a threat.
I have an iphone 6. It runs perfectly.

I don't know if Igor reads these threads, but I'll say this anyway. I hope Igor resists the urge to screw with a good thing. I love the user interface of his app, and it just plain works. Please, don't fix it until it breaks!

I switched from Strelok to Shooter.
I like the truing features, as well as the multiple BC offsets for longer range.
The software is deadly accurate to 1100 yards by the BC entered. After that, allowing for the true up of what the software stated vs what I actually had to adjust to is amazing.
I also like that you can 'sync' up the data. I run it off of my phone, sync the data, and then pull it down to my tablet to experiment with.

My two cents
-D.

There are several that run on iPhone / iPad / Android / etc, they run around $10-25 dollars. I have two different ones but I mostly use Ballistic AE. I like the head up display feature that has spin dials for range and wind, very easy to adjust once you put your dope in. I think Ballistic AE along with many other Ballistic solvers use the JBM calculation engine, and the accuracy of the tools using the same algorithm are the same. I have used Ballistic AE with good success out to a mile with two different .264” caliber rifles in the mountains at NRA Whittington Center.

If you have (or get) QuickLOAD, it comes with QuickTARGET, which is a pretty capable option for a PC. The user interface is a bit clunky, but once you get used to it, it's not bad.

I’ve got 9 or 10 apps on my phone besides a Kestrel with AB and always recommend “Shooter” ($10) and “Applied Ballistics Mobile” ($30). Both apps are easy to navigate and the data inputs straight forward. StrelokPro Pro is good as well but I still prefer the first two mentioned. All of my programs are within 0.1 MIL of each other out to 1200 yards, with or without using custom curves.

DTI just launched the new version of TRASOL for iOS. It seems to work perfectly. It has no bullet library, but the user interface is simple in the extreme. It is within 0.1 of my other 3 apps (AB, Strelok Pro, 4DOF) out to about 1200 yds when all input are identical.

There is a free version that I haven't tried, but the pay version was $24 IIRC.

I've used jbm website for years. I've got friends that use just about all the ones mentioned here and they are always surprised by how well I am able to make hits so consistently with it. I just recently got the TRASOL app and I am really liking the interface so far; so much so that I payed for it.

I have never personally observed nor heard from others that the calculated results are different out to 1000yd using any of the solvers, so it primarily boils down to which user interface suits you best. Trasol uses a substantially different calculation method; I tried it a while back and it also was not different. For the last year Trasol bombed for many following smartphone updates; while it was allegedly repaired recently I would not rely on future success given their track record.

Someone reverse engineered TRASOL a while ago on Snipers hide. Its results can be reproduced by tweaking the standard drag fucntion slightly. They don't say how it works, and the coldbore (from which TRASOL was built) website is gibberish, but that's the only one I know of that isn't (or at least claims not to be) an implementation of the tried and true methods that have become the industry standard.

Bottom line, they're all the same. Pick whatever you like.

+1 for Strelok Pro. I have several apps, but Strelok Pro is especially useful when using second focal plane variable-power scopes with stadia markings.
