Ballistic Apps.

Hi Guys. Anybody know where I can get a good ballistics app for a smart phone? Right now I have "Shooter" on my phone and think it was a waste of $$ Not sure if I can put the G7 on there and even though I like the Berger, my phone won't work with it. :)

You can easily enter G7's into shooter. Go down to where it says "Drag Model", tap the G1 and change it to G7. I haven't found anything that shooter doesn't take into account. Whatever Berger bullet you're using is almost certainly in the bullet library already, just select it and it'll populate all the info for you.

I was using the applied ballistics app on my droid smart phone. I used it down in southern iowa for deer hunting. It was dead on. Only problem was it took a while to program all the environmental factors in. I tried the G7 rangefinder out and was so impressed with it that I am now a stocking dealer of them. I fine tuned it out to 1375 yards last thurs. Shot a 7" group at 1375 and a 3.5 inch group at 1000 with the 338 edge off a bipod. Yesterday had the neighbor girl smoke a milk jug at 600 on her first shot. She had never shot over a 100 yards before. The G7 took the steep angle and everything into account in about 5 seconds and allowed for a 1st round hit. My smart phone would of taken a couple minutes to come up with the same ballistics solution.

FWIW, I have used Bullet Flight and iStrelok for a few years. Both have proven accurate enough for my needs. I don't typically shoot much past 700, though. Like any decent program, garbage data in equals garbage data out. With a good velocity and bc figure (tweaked from 100-500yrd. paper data), they've both been very close out to 800 for me. That's about my practical limit.

+1 on Strelok for a very good free ballistic calculator - I've been using it since it was on my Palm smartphone. The algorithms for altitude, temp & station pressure compensation worked well to go from 247ft, 45 deg F & 30.15" to 4500ft, 65 deg & 28" station pressure with a first-round hit - and that's with the older Palm version. Having the reticle for my Vortex PST is a plus.
I'm gonna spend the $6 and get the Strelok+

I have Shooter on my phone and like it alot, good luck with what ever you decide on...

ive been using a phone APP for the last few months and set up right they are a serious tool for long range shooting,,with my ppc rifles a 500 yard first shot hit now is quite common...
