Ballisic calculator problems

What scope? Is scope true MOA, or shooter's MOA, or IPHY?

The click value test that Laurie mentions is right on. You may test that and find your clicks aren't actually worth the value you think they are.

Also, is your scope tracking in a straight vertical line?

Thanks for the replys. Scope is a NF NSX 5.5-22x56 np-r1 reticle so I expect the turrets to be working fine. At 100 yards the tikka is shooting 1/2 MOA groups, at 300 its still shooting 1/2 moa but 3 or 4 inches high. The calculators say 3.89 MOA but in real life I only need 2.75 (depending of weather).

Range finder is a Bushnell fusion and no I haven't checked the Kestrel calibration, so if either of these are out, it would be wrong. How would it be right at longer distance though?

You should just get a Leica 1600, G7, or Vectronix rangefinder. That way you have one device that gives you all the weather, range, and ballistic data then calculates it for you. They are 3 devices in one. Be a big upgrade from messing with a Bushnell and Kestrel and a calculator.

Make and price are no guarantors of scope adjuster precision. Go do a 100 yard adjuster accuracy test, and you may be pleased with the results, but you may equally not be.

Also, use a plumb line on the target frame, firstly to check that you have the scope mounted anbd rifle set up with the vertical axis reticle truly so, and secondly to check that the scope adjuster also tracks up a true vertical line.

Sight fitted using a Wheeler sight level. I'll go out this week and check the scope and re input all the data.
