BAD Lapua Brass

Has anyone ran into this problem with Lapua Factory ammo? =>

The rim cut on the brass is not deep enough to allow the case to be inserted into a shell holder for reloading.

I bought 400 rounds of factory ammo so I could get some shooting done with my new rifle since I was having trouble finding the power and primers that I needed and I have now found this problem with the brass. I have both unfired ammo left and fired ammo that will not fit into the shell holder on the press.

I am using the correct shell holder - RCBS # 3 (My new brass does not have a problem)

I used my calipers to check the rim dimensions between brass that does fit the shell hoder and the ones that do not. That is where the problem is - the rim cut is not deep enough on some.

I thought Lapua was supposed to be the BEST!!!! What a disappointment!! >:(

To those of you who say try a different shell holder - when I measure 0.025" difference between "good" brass and the brass that does not fit - NOT a shell holder problem.

I have got email into Lapua and I am waiting for a reply.

Parrothead,
I have the same problem with some 243 Win. Lapua brass.
It is disappointing to see Lapua slip like this.

Why not contact Lapua and let them know about your problem with their product.

I'll bet they would appreciate hearing about it and work to make it right.

Give them a chance.

I think the specs on shell holders are more generous than believed.

Try a different shell holder. I've got a handfull of #3's I use.

I've had similar issues with 6.5 Grendel Lapua brass, not often, but now & then it happens. Yes, and we thought that Lapua brass was perfect, given what we pay for it!

had the same problem last year with .223 brass that was for my 20tactical the brass required a bit of force to get it into the shell holder ,this started to gall the brass so i took a dremel to the shell holder then a fine file, this cured the problem.i also swopped shell holders with a mate and didnt have the problem with his both were/are LEE.
idont have the problem with 6br brass .

I switched to Redding shell holders, end of problem. Had same thing on two different lots of 6.5x284, and when I went to set up for 338 Lapua just ordered Redding and have had NO problems.

On rare occasions I've had the same problem with Lapua 220 Russian/ 6ppc: have to work at getting a case to slide into the shell holder.

Call Laupa I know from experience they will make it right and then some. Remeber they are proably at the SHOT show and wont be in the office till next week. All companys have there problems its all in how they handle it now.

Frank after reading this post it seems it is not so rare. However I have had similar problems with other brands . But for far less money than Lapua. The Rifler

I'm curious about the folks who say Lapua makes their mistakes right: what contact did you use? I had a problem with some of their brass, emailed the addy on their website and never have received a response.

Depends on when you sent them an inquiry. Cause as "280man" states they're probably attending the SHOT show.

I contacted the retailer I purchased the product through. Who in turns contacted the distributor. And the distributor got back in touch with me regarding the matter.
