Bad day for UPS...

Just this week for USPS. 16 days to deliver a 2 day Priority Mail package to my PO Box.

Like Chop House said, I could go on.

I gave our 'regular' delivery guy a Christmas card with something in it and I'm first on the route now. Of course that's him. In our neighborhood they go to gold carts with trailers for the final delivery during the season.

On the Bright side, None of those evil gun parts were used in a crime while the delivery was delayed. and after all, if just the life of one child is saved.....

Yes, I understand the challenges of the season, so other than the tracked paint, and perhaps driving by the FFL and not stopping to deliver, I wan't hating so much on UPS. My address is a Private Mail Box I pay for in a UPS store--keeps all my deliveries off the porch and securely signed for.

When I had my coin business, I must have written 1000 emails like this (in reply to the buyer's complaint or concern), "Sorry your package didn't arrive as scheduled. Tracking is often incorrect and I can't explain where it is. Please be patient and it will get there soon. I have yet to have a domestic package lost. Also, don't worry about who pays if it is lost. Until it is delivered to you, it is my responsibility as the seller. If it does get lost I will replace or refund your money. Thanks, Jerry"

But realize, if I'd never looked at tracking. I would be very happy when the actions arrive on Tuesday, avoiding all the disappointment in the mean time.

I hate the transfer from UPS to USPS so much, I order a bottle of copper solvent, just to keep order with UPS ground --- it's two days faster.

What I can't figure out is why the tracking always shows delivery on a day I have to be somewhere else.

For clarification: my order is NOT transferring to USPS. UPS will deliver when they get around to it.

I live several states away from Brownells,
I ordered a Case of 6mm Creedmoor Factory Ammo from them on Nov 4, 2017.
It was promptly Shipped.
Fed-X was the Delivery Service,
The tracking shows it is at a Fed-X warehouse 1 hour away from my house.
Today is 12/17/17, and I still haven't seen my ammo from that shipment.
But, Kudos to Brownells, they made it good and sent me another Case by UPS.
Got it in 3 days.
Go Figure.

I'm really sorry to hear your story.......you didn't at one point piss your UPS driver off did you? I only ask that because I was a driver for UPS, started in 1977 and thankfully I'm out of it now, but some people get different treatment based on their personality. I am by no means saying its your fault, but in the real world it happens.

Aside from that you have to look at the big picture.....its that time of year when things get really crazy, it usually starts before Thanksgiving and will continue until the 24th.

Let me give you some incite as to what its like on any given day this time of year, I'll use my old route as an example. During the normal time of the I drove 120 miles a day, 80 being internal mile at speeds of 25 to 35mph, the other 40 were to and from miles at 60 mph, 90 stops with about 115 packages delivered. I had 8 on route pick-ups which yielded about 10 to 15 packages daily, this was considered an 8 hour day according the computer. Every route has a different time allowance based on that particular route. Now here's a day during the Christmas season, 165 miles, 275 stops, 375 to 425 packages, and I was allowed to use a helper for only 5 hours......fun times. There's nothing like getting home from work at 10:30 at night. I've been out of the mix for 5 years and I still hate Christmas.

Most people see a UPS driver for a minute to minute and a half, some probably think we drop off their package and then go home and drink beer the rest of the day, that's far from the truth. My driver dropped off a package Thursday night at 9:15pm, I told my girlfriend that if our house was his last stop and he had no lunch left that he wouldn't get off work until 10:30, how do I know......its my old route.

Bottom line is, the drivers for all the major carriers are doing the best they can, its easy to point fingers but until you have done the job, (and some can't) a person has no idea of what this job entails.

If I made anyone mad.....sorry, but I've been there, done that.

Mark,
I can appreciate the hard work you guys do. I know a few UPS drivers still at it and retired.
But, you try to get a job with UPS in this area, its like winning the lottery if you can get in.

A few years ago I ordered a barrel.
The mailman brought the package, an empty cardboard tube.
Looked as the tape on the end cap broke and the barrel escaped.

Barrel was never found and had to re-order another. Shipper made sure to tape the ends with duct tape this time.

Ahh life in Canada

I guess I'm lucky. My UPS guys are great. Haven't had but one package in 28 years delivered to the wrong address and fortunately it was up the street. Same goes for my mail guy. As far as treatment of them, I sometimes walk down to the mailbox and chat with the mailman, take the mail so it's one least box to flip open and shut or ask him if he needs to use the bathroom. Same goes for the UPS guy. Last summer I had a few tomato plants left over and I gave them to him. Same goes for tomatoes and other veggies from the garden. A little kindness goes a long way.

I think they wont hire you as a driver unless you have an IQ of somewhere around 85-90.......I have been unsuccessful at getting the drivers to not place packages right smack square in the middle of my garage door. Pull in the drive way, steer to align with the garage door and hit the remote to open it and I now have to get out, move the package, get back in and continue.
I have stopped them, I have caught them in the act and asked, "what's wrong with the rest of my 46 acres you could put the package on??", I have called the distribution center and complained......I think the managers have to have even lower IQ's!!!!! 17 years in this house and got one in front of the garage door a few days ago......then again this is the communist democrat state of Maryland.....hard to find a normal person that wants to live here, let alone actually work.

Mark204,
It would be the UPS driver for the FFL. Don't think they pissed them off. My two drivers I know well, one has a son who plays golf with my son, one needs some work done occasionally and I take good care of him.

It now shows out for delivery again. The FFL is indeed closed today.

Better luck tomorrow,
Jerry

Well, I can't complain about delivery service by USPS, UPS or FedEx here in SW Al.

What I still can't get over the is the 10 day wait for the actions in CA! Really glad we don't have such silly laws here in AL! I don't believe I could live somewhere with such arcane laws.
