Bad Day For My Scope

I went to the range the other day to finish load work up and sight in. Everything was going fine down to last couple of shots and decided to move 1click right and 1click up to put the bullet hopefully just inside the 10 ring on the right side. I turned the dial no click turned the other dial same thing, no click, said WTH, took a shot no hole in paper, this after putting 5 in a ragged hole on left side of 10 ring.
Scope is now in a box and going to UPS this morning for its trip to Leupold for the 3rd time in 4 years for repair for the same issue. Maybe it is time for a change in brands. Oh by the way it is a 45 competition.
I gave up on the Leupold comp scopes a few years back for not holding poi. Went to NF , no problems since.

Just got back from putting scope into shipping, UPS hub was closed so I went next door to FedEx. Wow has shipping gone up $42.55 with ins. to go across country by ground express, and it will take 8 days to get there.
To answer the questions about replacement if I go that way, probably a Nightforce 15x55 competition. this a SR BR scope used for score.
I have a 40x on another gun that will get swapped out for now.
Leupold should have emailed you a shipping label if you called customer service. On my Bushnell that went bad, they paid for all the shipping.

I've heard some bad stories about the NF 15-55x. In fact a good friend of mine is sending one back as we speak.

And people keep asking me why there are more and more Vortex scopes showing up at the SWN and FCNC every year ? I had a Vortex HS go bad in the Turret . Sent it to them for repair , with a nice note explaining the issue . They called me the day it arrived , and said there was a new scope already in shipping on it's way back . They were aware there was a issue with some that had been sold , and were replacing them when they were returned . Care to ask why I have three Golden Eagle scopes now ?

In all honesty ; I never considered that as a issue , till I was changing stocks . Then I realized the "Eagle" was lighter , and never thought about it again . Best weight loss was going to a GRS HYBRID . Almost a pound and a half lighter than the Kelby K-TR , now sitting in the closet .

If you're in this game long enough, most of us have had a scope go bad.

I recently had a Bushnell Elite 4200 scope that would change POI laterally. I always assume it's me first, then something has gone sideways with the rifle, lasting the scope. What made this so frustrating is that it was mounted on my super accurate Weatherby Mark V, Super Varmint Master, a true sub 1/2 moa rifle - my Number 1 long range ground hog rifle.

After painstakingly sorting through this process, I identified the culprit, the scope. This was a $500 scope at the time I purchased it several years ago, not one of their "bargain" scopes. I am shooting it on a 223 Rem; thus, recoil is minimum. Also, I am hunting groundhogs in fields, not sheep hunting in Alaska. Translation, the scope is subject to virtual no shooting or field stress.

I sent it back under their lifetime repair policy and they "fixed" it. We'll see. It's terribly frustrating when this happens since I hate to waste components in isolating the problem, then having to resight a replacement or "repaired" scope then verifying the latter.

Never had a Leupold go bad yet and I have several of them. Surprised they didn't fix it right the first time. I guess like everything else in this new age world, nothing as it was in the past.
Screw BUSHNELL. I had a hunting scope that went bad and was literally 13 months old, and they told me “too bad, it’s over the one year warranty”. They wouldn’t do anything to rectify the situation at all. $1000 elite scope and they offered me a $50 discount on a new scope. No thanks. Now I take every chance I get to share the story with anyone thinking of buying a BUSHNELL product. Word of mouth advertising is the most powerful form in the world, both good and bad. Karma is a bitch.

I am not convinced that the "fixed" mine, but we'll see.

Mine had a lifetime repair / replacement warranty. First, they told me that they would replace it because they no longer had parts for my scope. Then I got mine back a week later and that said my scope was "fixed". I am skeptical because of the quick turnaround.

But it appears that their customer service is no longer what it used to be. Welcome to the brave new world. If Leopold is going down the toilet, then what is a guys supposed to do? Night force is out of my financial means. Iron sights? :(

Unfortunately there is not a scope at any price point that is without problems. They all have there 1 or 2 that have a problem.
I believe the high prices are to cover these lifetime warranties for the ones that go bad. I just wish that when they do get returned, they would actually be fixed, the erector systems could be beefed up without much added weight or size and then they might hold up to the levels they are used at.
Customer and repair services are not what they once were.

I recently had a Vortex Diamond 4-12 fail for the third time. I sent it in and Vortex reached out saying they didn't have the components to fix and that they didn't have any more Diamondbacks, so were going to upgrade me to a Viper HS if I would accept. They've provided the best customer service I've ever had on repeated occasions.
As my cynical gunsmith says, it's great Vortex have such as good warranty as you'll need it

That’s what I’m talken about ;)

Vortex?? They have a lifetime warranty and they stand behind their products.
