Backyard Range

Nice ranges!!
We live on 80acres with no one behind us, just a whole lot more woods.
This past Summer I set up a nice 2x8 framed, heavy bench. It's 4x8 ft on top, so you can sit behind it in the ambidextrous U-shaped cutout, or climb on top and shoot prone. So far I've got 50yds and 100yds and plan to do at least 200-300 here. I've started clearing for a 800M range with a shooting deck and insulated shooting shack w/ roof and tower, just 100yds South on one edge of our parcel, but that will take a while.

We started living here in a 12x32 cabin w/ dbl lofts and have recently moved into a small house with amenities. This past Summer my ridiculously cool Wife told me to make the cabin into my man cave. She already has a 12x20 craft shop-"Jessie's Cave" and wanted me to have a more organized area. We're still keeping one of the lofts queen sized bed for guest lodging. The back/East end faces the range. I'll be putting a nice prone shooting matt in the East loft to shoot from the upper window and replacing the 9' kitchen counter with a custom Birch slab shooting bench at the lower East side window. Both windows will be changed to sliders, so I can set up Lexan sliding plates to seal the window around the barrel in Winter. I can't wait to be able to build a test load...walk 20 feet...test fire....and walk back 20ft to make changes. All without even taking off my slippers. It will also be possible to have a buddy over with both of us shooting at the same time from both windows...could be fun Winter sports. Not complaining now, it's about 50-60ft from the man cave door to the shooting bench.

For Steel we've got 3 Poppers, 8 circle's and squares, and a 2/3rd size IPSC. Things are just getting good...

Yes we have to be conscious of the tree huggers..

I have several of these. Oil drums getting hard to find though...
Funny you mention that,in this pic you can make out my target stand at the end of the trail...I am blazing a trail through the woods one bullet at a time . I will cut the damaged trees for firewood and increase my shooting distance each winter . I have another 1000 yards or so until I get to my sandpit, natural berm.

The most fun,,lol,,,next time you go fishing and find your dead minnows the next day pin them on up on the board,,me and the neighbor went thru 300 rounds of RWS SS,,case of High Life,,had to knock down the fly population

Not our backyard but we had 96 acres 15 miles from the Whelling WV Cabelas store. Could put targets out to 500 yds. Our neighbor behind is sold his 205 acres to CNX gas. They asked us for road right of way through us and we told them no! They filed lawsuit. 4 of us owned it and decided to sell our place to them. They’re going to build a compressor station on land behind us and we would have to put up with 24x7 traffic! Our grandfather bought the property in 1943 and last year was the first time I didn’t deer hunt it in 35 yrs!

Got 50y here, Can shoot from back at 100 but forgot to get a pic. Have 235 over the paddocks, 700 to 950 if I go to the neighbour's and shoot back into mine. Need the intermediary ranges though, 3-500 which due to the geography, I just can't get. :(
