Backup load to H4350

During the last component emergency I was forced to use whatever powder was available. I am not saying that my suggestions would equal the fine accuracy and extreme low spreads that would be attained with H4350 or perhaps IMR 4451, IMR 4350, or perhaps ACC 4350 but should another component emergency occur H414, R-S Hunter, and 4000 MR would provide equal velocities. But again, they may or may not provide winning scores.
I would like to get some feedback on 4000MR if someone has used it.

I had an interesting conversation with a very nice lady at Alliant Powders one day. In short, I asked her why the "Power Pro" powders were so cheap. I thought they would be imported from some third world country and therefore inferior to the Swiss / Swedish made "Reloader" line.

She told me that the Power Pro line is cheaper because it is made by St.Marks in Florida, and so doesn't have to come across the ocean. One of the biggest reasons they started that line she said, was because they were worried the Obama administration would cut off the supply from overseas and they wanted a domestic line to fall back on.

Random story telling I know, but there it is.

RL-16 HAS SHOWED GREAT IMPROVEMENT IN MY 6.5 CREEDMOOR OVER H-4350 GROUPS, NUMBERS, SPEED WENT FROM 2800 FPS WITH 130GR BERGERS TO 2950 WITH RL-16 MAY NOT IN EVERY BARREL BUT IT SURE CHANGED FOR THE GOOD IN MINE !!!!!!!:D:D:D

Being concerned with my powder supply back then I tested 4000 MR and found it roughly equivalent to Re 19. 4000 MR has cylindrical shaped grains slightly smaller than H4300 with one rounded end. It meters real good. It appears to have a slightly greater density to H4350 meaning more of it will fit into a case. So far the best use has been with the .243 Win with loads slightly less than those shown in the Hornady manual. Another good use is with the .300 Win mag with 178 grain bullets. My chronograph failed some time ago but I hope to get a Magneto type soon to test out a bunch of loads for velocity spreads. Accuracy under my fundamental standards has been excellent with many hits on a 2 1/2 inch by 3 1/2 inch steel cylinder at 300. Use with the .243 W loaded with 87 grain VMax bullets has been impressive on the rodent prairies. Cost at my LGS is about $10 less than H4350. I use CCI 200's with the .243 and CCI 250's with the .300 Win.

Testing is planned with the 6mm AI -87's, 6.5-06 - 100's & 123's, and 6.5X47 Lapua with 140's.

H4350 is very difficult to buy here and I have never seen any Re 16 for sale.

Thank you for relaying your talk with the Alliant lady. Not a "random story" - factual good info.

Howland, why don’t you sell me that 8lb jug of H4350?

If you and many others would at least put your resident state in the profile, hard telling who may see the FTF distances may just be in the realm of possibility. Sure a PM will do it but clicking on your handle gives the info, easy peasy & fast.
I have abt 18-20# and could let some go to a fellow shooter.
The RL 17 used in the 6XC Long, + long neck, showed fire cracking after 800 rds, .0002" throat wear and seldom got into the zeros w the XCal bbl like it did earlier on. Running a 3250 node on 20+ PC's of Lapua for the test.
