Back Ordered Ford

Well....after resigning to driving a dang flat bad work truck truck until about Thanksgiving, I get a text last week from my dealer buddy. Truck came in. Can you imagine makng a living not having a clue when ordered product will arrive?
Anyway. Worth the wait. Ford seems to have it together on these superdutys. Now all I have to do is figure out all this phone app/control crap and I'll have the bull by the horns.
Of course if it's anything like my cell phones, I'll figure it all out about a month before I wear it out. :)
I reminded all my kids....I remember how big a deal it was to get an automatic transmission and power steering. Don't judge because daddy doesn't get worked up not being able to use all these extras.

Glad you finally got it! We decided not to give Ford ( or who ever) any more personal information and didn’t do the app deal on our Expedition, drives just great without it.

Huh, we have had several and they have been a pleasure to drive and to haul items enclosed.
I had a 2013. At about 50,000 miles, the electronics package in the dash, would just go blank. Maybe a short time or for a day. Then the A/C would quit. Maybe for an hour or maybe for a day, then start working. Nobody could find a reason. At about 70,000 miles, I got it fixed at the Toyota dealer. I drove out with a perfectly working 2018 4 Runner that I don't think I can wear out before I die.

My friend at work had the PU and the AC quit. Resistor or some ? on a board in the dash. Part was sourced from Romania. Think about that !!

Manufacturers source the cheapest parts they can find from whatever country. I had to replace a relay for a heater fan in a Chevy truck and it came from the Czech Republic. The problems with with the display and the A/C were intermittent and couldn't be duplicated as long as it kept working while in the shop. The shop kept it for a week, then told me to keep driving it until it breaks.

We received and purchased our 2022 Maverick about a month ago after a 53 week wait. No markup, list MSRP and Ford consumer protection which honored our 0.0% finance from 9/23/2021. A ford minion for now . . . . . . $23K out the door. A 44/33 mpg small truck. No competition really. After 600 miles we are averaging 39.9 mpg, including two trips up to and over the Sierra crest 7,300 ft elevation.

I just called up the Ford website and found a recall on the Maverick

What is the issue tied to this recall?

In some of our Escape® SUVs, Maverick® pickups and Lincoln Corsair® SUVs, there’s the risk of an underhood fire, melting engine components or smoke, increasing the risk of an injury. In the event of an engine failure, engine oil and/or fuel vapor may leak and accumulate under the hood of your vehicle.

Auto builders operate by JIT, Just In Time inventory. Instead of having a warehouse stocked with components, they give minimum lead time orders to their suppliers and demand the components are delivered hours before they are scheduled for use. And a substantial penalty is levied if the order is minutes late! Yes it saves the auto company money due to less money being tied up on space and inventory, but clearly in this situation is not a fail safe practice. A customer:supplier relationship works best as a partnership vs a dictatorship! Personally I would not want to buy a new vehicle at this time, as builders scrounge parts and sacrifice quality for the sake of cash flow!

My fishing partner purchased a new half ton Chevy diesel late last fall. At 3000 went into limp mode. Went to a nearby dealer, they said can't find any replacement turbos. 2 weeks later(after he found 49 available on line) he called the dealer that he purchased from. They said come back with the loaner car, we will buy the truck back and sell you a new gas truck we have. The new gas truck he has is still short some chips, last night leaving the lake he said his heated seat module MAY have come in.

My buddy ordered one in Feb. Supposed to show up this week (again. Same as last week.) They notified him his truck was complete about a month ago; delivery to the left coast was estimated at 3 weeks. I figure they had a couple of pushing it along the highway to California.

2.5L Hybrid engines built between between Feb 3 and June 8. Not affected, apparently.
