Avalibility of 6XC or fireform other brass?

Can't find any 6XC brass lately so have been trying to fireform from 22-250. Found some Norma but after I fireformed it and resized it the neck tension is very minimal. Several pieces I could just push the bullet into the neck. I'm using Tubbs custom resizing die so I limited with the 2 bushings included. Using the smaller of the two.
I would like to try another brand but don't want to have the same problem. Was wondering if the neck wall is thicker on any other brands. I have seen Lapua 22-250 brass available and also Nosler.
Also thought about trying 6mm Creedmoore. Any experience with sizing that to 6XC?
Of course the best option would be 6XC brass.

I have used Lapua 22-250 brass and it necks down well don't need to trim necks & I use Tubbs dies with .268" bush. depends on your chamber neck I guess.

In the early days (~2006) I fire formed with Norma 22-250. Case necks split on approx 10% of cases after first reload. Have used 6xc Norma from Tubb with success. If I had to fireform brass again I would prob go with Win brass or something cheap and just prep the hell out of it.

Just my .02,

I've been using the Winchester 22-250 brass in my 6XC and can't seem to see any difference in accuracy compared to my Norma head stamped brass. I've decided to go that route instead of paying the high prices we pay for brass when it's available. Good luck, spoke with someone @ Norma few months ago and was told to "get used to the 22-250 brass" he said the markets to small for 6XC compared to other brass at the high price they're selling for today.

I've been shooting 6xc Oryx with some success and will reload the brass in due course.

Here is all the 6XC brass you could want. And Norma to boot :-)

Just fire formed 70 pieces of WW 22-250 brass this last weekend using the COW
method. Worked very, very well. Those of you using WW brass, what is the
neck dimension of your loaded rounds?

I sold my Tubbs die. I've got a Redding full length bushing die and a std Forster full length resizing die. I have a full set of bushings from when I loaded 243 Win.

Thats the issue that steered away from buy Tubbs dies. There aren't many options in the way of bushings.

Yea! Where is all the 6XC brass? norma said a few months ago it was on it's way. where is it?
It would seem the lapua 22-250 brass would be the way to go.
does anyone have a loaded round neck diameter for lapua 22-250 brass reformed?
Im good right now I have 100 new norma 6xc's. but i'm concerned that there is none anywhere. WHY?

nomad47 i'm not aware of 6 creedmoore brass. does such a thing exist? I shoot a 6.5 creedmoore and I make my brass from 308 lapua palma cases. I know for sure it would be quite a job to size them down to 6xc from 6.5 creedmoore. one of the reasons I went with the 6xc was good brass ready to go. I can tell you making 6.5 creedmoore from 308 cases is quite a job, but worth it in the perforamance you gain over hornady brass. and you also need a 3" clip or mag box to get the most out of a good 140 bullet, to keep it above the neck shoulder junction. another reason to go 6xc is even with a 115 you are still inside the 2.8" mag box of most rifles. where you need a medium length action or a modified box to fit the 6.5 creedmoore to gain the performance it is capable of.

FJIM, I have a 6XC and I am currently rotating 200 pieces of Norma 6XC brass with another 178 (at least) once fired brass in reserve. But I heard a rumor that Norma is quitting making 6XC brass. So I was wondering if there was another alternative besides fire forming from 22-250 brass.

The last 150 cases for the XC, I made from 6.5 Creedmoor. It was a lot of work, but I finally got there.
PBike makes a tool for sizing down cases that would make the whole process go faster..
Simply running the 6.5 Creed brass through a 6XC die didn't work too well for me.

I doubt it very much. I'm buying Norma 6XC factory ammo without any issues (apart from price) and Blaser are producing a 6XC barrel.

I seriously doubt they are going to quit making brass for it. it is quite popular and gaining. I just set up a sporter rifle for hunting in the 6XC plan on shooting it my next weekend off work. It has gained quite a following as a hunting cartridge. gunworks is building hunting rifle's in it and they have their own loaded ammo in 6XC loaded with a 115 hunting VLD. they claim it's in stock at $75.00 for 20 rounds. they must have bought all the norma brass up.lol....just youtube 6xc and watch all the hunting videos on it.. mine is a 1-8 twist set up for 85-105 bullets but a 1-7 twist is on order. I haven't spent much time behind the wheel of one and i'm all ready in love with the cartridge.

The 6XC IS a great cartridge. This is my third year of hunting/shooting groundhogs with the cartridge. I just hope the rumor is not true as I plan on shooting the 6XC for quite a while longer. In fact, I have a 6XC reamer on order from JGS and Preacher has a Brux barrel on order that the reamer will be used on.
