Auction find.. Help me date it please! 700BDL in 222 Rem

I have one something like yours It has a 682xxxx number nothing else. Searching has led me to find it was made between 1968/1975. FYI

Tombstone Safteys early 70’s. or before?
What’s on the floor plate?
Didn’t they have a “C” after the 700 for custom shop? As JD said the grip cap is different.

Check the trigger for the recall Remington had on the 700's.

Smooth trigger face is the tell all. If it is smooth look for a punch mark on the bolt release, if you see a punch mark your good to go.

The good trigger is ribbed and not smooth.

Old Weaver V8 Scope. I think those were straight up oughta the sixties. About the same time as the Fab Four. :) jd
I would bet its a later 60's / early 70's vintage also
From what I read
700 receivers with ser# 1000-387347 started in 1962 until 11-68
6200000-6899999 started in 11-68 until Aug of 1975
the A prefix did not begin until 1975
---
The supposed 607 prefix has me stumped unless thats a typo and SHOULD read as 670xx
---
that's a nice find, I love all my B-series and back

My Remington 700 ADL with a four digit serial number (99xx) was made in 1962 (they started with 1000).
Production reached six digits around 1968.

code on left side of barrel just ahead of receiver looks like RL5 and another mark see pic

so is this 1966? what does the 5 mean? what is the last mark?

I don'tr care about the trigger, it will only be shot from the bench and infrequently. It has the ribbed trigger

I think your on to something, I think it may be an early custom shop rifle.. Here is a pic of the grip cap with the dogs head and the floorplate with an engraved R
