Ap2020 has a side by side comparison of the Garmin and Athlon on YouTube.
Found myself wondering if Doppler units in close proximity might have the potential for interference , leading to spurious/ inaccuracy in readings. Google inquiry appears to indicate that this may indeed occur. Not throwing shade on any brand, just wondering about the accuracy / validity of some comparisons.
After owning several other brands including the Oeler 35 years ago I find the Garmin to be the most accurate and consistent of them all.

Now that the Athlons have actually dropped. There are several side by side reviews on YouTube, They both appear to do the same thing. From the reviews I’ve seen. The Athlon is definitely faster. Has a nicer tripod (if that matters). Also a decent app and better interface/software. Definitely looks like an improvement over the Garmin. I plan to test mine out next week. Time will tell.
Starting to see those. For me, I’m more concerned with how the data translates through the ballistic calculator to scope settings and whether or not they put me on target. Garmin vs. Athlon vs Magnetospeed is interesting but it’s metal on target that counts. I know the scope settings that put me on target with different loads. If my new Athlon gives me velocity data that would put me off target , that’s a problem.

I think Athlon missed out on this one. Garmin has already sold a ton of theirs at $599 and Athlon came out with the Rangemaster at $299 and some good PR from RimfireSS and the minute everyone started buying them they have raised the price to $499 at most places. I just love the way these companies take advantage of the very people that support them! I wonder if RimfireSS is going to edit his half price statement now that the terrific Rangemaster has went up to $499.
A two minute check found 4 places for $399.

I’m at 399.99 on mine. Yes some people are marking them up. The same thing happened when the Garmins came out. Just make note of the dealers that chose to price gouge and don’t shop there.
