ATF requires gunsmith assembling barrel to action to engrave it?

So far all of the ones I installed about 20-25 last year . Usually out at the range for other shooters , most were Criterion , maybe a shilen or two and some private , semi custom Smithed ones . Maybe a shaw was in that group also . I do remember some from midway that had no markings . That was the problem when a shooter / friend would bring it up and say " I've had this a few years and can't remember what cartridge I ordered , can you install it ?" NOPE !

I know that barrel blanks are marked this way. Which companies mark pre chambered barrels in this manner? Thanks.

I have 3 Shilen pre-fits and they don't have any cartridge/chambering markings.

Are they pre fits or short chambered ? All I know is what I was told when installing , it wouldn't be the first time someone was sold a barrel and it wasn't a shilen . Maybe Butch could answer this .
