Asked questions and got smart answers/Update!

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
I called a well known barrel maker and asked what alloy their chrome moly was,in the background,I could hear them making fun of me and taking their time to come back on the phone and finish answering my questions.I am truly saddened that companys obviously dont need repeat customers or their wallets are so fat they dont need business at all.I will never do business with this company from this day forward even though I have sent many people to call them and try their barrels.Pm me off line for more imfo.I wish this type of behaviour would stop as I always greeted customers of my old business with a smile and respect.

Re: Asked questions and got smart answers

In my younger years, I worked as a tire salesman. Rule no.1 was speak to the customer as he/she entered the store. Doesn't matter how busy you are, speak to them and let them know your aware they came in. I recently went into a pawn shop to look at firearms. The jerk behind the counter didn't even look up from the computer he was glued to to see I had walked in. I asked a question and he was very short with me. I shook my head and walked out. To many gunshops to put up with this.

As a small business owner of several retail and service establishments over the last 40 years I can state that employees can ruin you without intending to. Customer perception trumps quality and value every time. Keeping employees mindful of this is a full time and difficult job.

You are right, keeping some people in line is near impossible resulting in a pink slip. I worked with a guy who gander hired straight out of prison. He was a self proclaimed archery expert. He would use swear words with the customers and tell them that everything we sold was junk and buy a brand we didnt sell.I represented all the products the way they should have been handled from beginner stuff all the way to the top.I tried to keep the peace between him and a hot head and I got nearly fired for their inadequacies.I quit and he lasted about another year after I quit and they(gander) loss prevention caught him lowering prices for his freinds on camera. They did an audit ,the jailbird ripped them off for thousands of dollars of product. Gee,maybe they crowded the wrong guy out.I only ran a successful archery business for 10 years, but what did I know.
