The NC Department of Revenue has for years had a Sales Tax on Retail Sales for Tangible Property (merchandise). The NC Legislature has passed a new Sales Tax on Services. IE: gunsmith services, and ammunition loading services. Our industry is not singled out, this applies to many services provider businesses. I was further told by the revenue agent that this did not apply to customers from out of state where the products and services were shipped to the out of state customer by common carrier.
If you are a North Carolina Resident and having your gunsmith services or ammunition reloading services provided by a North Carolina Company be prepared to pay 6.75% Sales tax on both the parts and services after March 1, 2016.
It would seem that North Carolina residents will have to pay more to have services done locally. It would also seem that North Carolina Business will loose work because it will be less expensive to send your business out of state.
Don't you just love your politicians.
