Arlo Go 4G LTE Camera

I was looking at the ARLO GO camera that has 4G LTE. It appears that this camera can be set up at your target and you can record and take snap shots of your target. It will record for 7 days to the CLOUD and after 7 days it will roll over. This data appears to be free. Your cell phone can access the camera and take a snapshot. Your cell phone would me charged for the snapshot data which is like texting a photo; minimal data.

It appears that this system would work perfectly for viewing a target at long range if your range has cell phone coverage. One could set the target up in Alabama for example and shoot at it from Alaska.

The Arlo Go uses the ATT or Verizon network.

I have been trying to get more info on this but trying to find information or to ask additional questions is tough. The camera does have zoom and a rechargeable battery and is weather-proof. It can also be triggered by sound or movement so it can double as a security camera or a trail camera.

Here is a link to the site. I may be missing something so if you all can take a look and see if you think this will work.

Thanks

Eric

We use these at work and they operate pretty much as described. I’ve not messed with them much but I have saw some really good screenshots. I don’t see any reason they couldn’t be used for real time target viewing.

I am trying to determine if the ATT cell plan is all inclusive or if I would also need a ARLO (Netgear) plan at additional cost.

After clicking through the link, I saw the price as $399.99 purchased through Verizon, the only available vendor.

I understand the concept, but I think I'd prefer a dedicated system that doesn't rely on cell coverage. For someone who wants/needs a security cam on his/her property, which can double as a target cam a few times a month... this might make sense.

May also want to consider a TargetVision Marksman... it is less expensive, has more shooting functionality, internally powered, and communicates via WiFi...

There is a cheaper option for those that already have a camcorder. You can buy a video receiver and transmitter for a drone and a 12 volt monitor that accepts rca input. You will also need a 12 volt power supply at both ends to power the monitor, receiver and transmitter. I run my setup at 500 yards and it works perfectly. I haven’t used it past 500 yards yet so I don’t know it’s limit yet. You do need line of site for the system to work so anything in the way will block the signal. Works great on days with a lot of mirage where nothing shows up through a spotting scope. Also great for plotting shots while doing your ladder method as everything is recorded and can be played back.

Carefully read the reviews on Amazon for the ARLO data plan. Very few find it economical.

I have 2 of these cameras and I added them to my family shared data plan on AT&T. You can not switch carriers. There are three versions - ATT, Verizon and the Netgear/Arlo.

I like them when they are working but I've had MANY headaches with them ranging from activation and the dolor panels. Support is horrible, even if you are fluent in Pashtun.

You can do further research in the arlo user community, and read about my adventures here:

I have given up on the ARLO. I am thinking along the lines of a drone camera with a drone video transmitter. I found out that the make a FPV Smartphone adapter. The drone VTX (transmitter) can be had up to 1200mw and has a range of 3 kilometers. The transmitter can be powered with a 7-40 VDC supply and provides a 5VDC output to power the camera. I think the available cameras will provide a good image of the target. The cell phone or tablet adapter looks like it will work well. I think I can make the system for about 100.00 and have a range of 1 mile.
