I was out shooting with my brother and brother in law this past Saturday both of which are stingy with their coin when it comes to optics. I was using a NF ATACR on one rifle and a Steiner M7 on another. They we’re using their new EPL Arkens. We were shooting 6.5 PRCs. We shot at multiple ranges from 525 to 1275 and their Arkens were tracking well, I have an Arken EPL on a couple 22s and was watching how their rifles would track.Their scopes did great, glass wasn't bad even at longer ranges they were dialing up and down, holding zero. It’s not a M7 glass or ATACR but you could buy 7 new Arkens for what I paid for my Steiner used. Pretty amazing value for the features you get.

I know Arkens aren’t for everyone but I wanted let you know about the sale in case you’re sitting the fence. I’m like a lot of others when it comes to products made in China, I don’t like it but I justify owning my Arkens by keeping in mind they are owned by American Vets.

Thanks, I had the Arken scopes earmarked for the up coming Amazon Prime Days to see if there was a deal. I don't think Amazon will beat the 25% off. Didn't make the "no Tax" line but OK with that. My second Arken and at the 25% off you can"t go wrong.

I thought the 25% was enough to push me over the edge on the EP8.

Is it as good as a Steiner or Schmidt & Bender, or even NF? I doubt it.

But I don't need that type of scope, I want another one to put on a new hunting rifle I built, and seeing it has Japanese glass is a big plus. I also got some points for my purchase, so keeping them until the 34mm ridgid mount is available. I think they gave me $40 worth of points. I didn't see the point in buying the combo pack, as I don't need yet another small pack, or t-shirt or hat, decals, and the EP8 has a throw lever built into the design. The level might be nice, but I'm using it for hunting and probably don't need it. Would rather have flip-up covers. Maybe I'll just get those for free and use one of my Aero mounts.

EP8 is 4-6 week lead time, so it's not as if it's available today. I don't have any personal experience with Arken, but in case anyone is wondering the EP8 weighs 21 oz. (1-8 LPVO).

All that said, I really like Vortex and have one with Philippines glass and one with Japanese glass. Their service is 2nd to none. Arken seems to want to provide similar service. To me they seem like a company that is trying to provide affordable scopes with the best materials they can get. Not like they'll make too much money off me with a $300 sale. However, to their credit they were very responsive and whoever I exchanged email with was XLNT. Curious if the lead time <cough> "slips"?
