Arizona Sheriffs

Evidently, an executive order to try to ban guns would be invalid, because it would conflict with the Supreme Court's decision in District of Columbia v. Heller.

I lived in Maricopa county for 25 years, and have never witnessed a bigger lunatic than Joe Arpio. He has cost the taxpayers millions of dollars with his mouth and actions. He'll probably never learn. If Obama has actually made that threat, I'd sure like for someone to post a credible link to it.

Costs? Tent city , Litter pickup, Helping with parks and rec. , az. Humane society, And the list goes on... Elimination of magazines coffee, tv , I see all that as saving tax dollars and a lot more that I wouldn't know about. You must have spent too much time at palo verde JRS . I lived in Maricopa co. for 15 yrs.

I'm not saying he hasn't made cost saving changes. With tent city in place, he saves the taxpayer a couple of million dollars each year. Since he's been in office, the taxpayers have paid out $142 million in legal expenses, settlements and court awards, thank to Joe. The racial profiling case thus far is at $51 million and the meter is still running on that one. 4 lawsuits were so big that the insurance carrier had to step in to settle them, at an additional cost to the taxpayers in the amount of $4 million ($1 million deductible each). With those stunning figures, the Arpaio fan club continues to say "Go Joe Go". My son happens to be one of those fans. He also has to deal with his property tax increase each time they come due.

And how do those expenses compare to other prisons?
Your painting a gloom, non-compared, one sided picture... but is par

Prison expenses? Have you been drinking? That money comes out of the county's general fund, not from the Sheriff's Dept. operating budget.
Again on par for you ... twist it to avoid the question, to keep it one sided...

How about we get rid of the Political Correctness that the liberal progressive left, has forced upon this Country and replace it with Common Sense? All of the "legal expenses" referred to above are then eliminated. I know, I know, you're going to invoke the Constitution where it fits your ideology. Please give it a break. I for one, am tired of your progressive viewpoint on a shooting forum.

Funny how commentary becomes the precursor of reality.

Past June I was grumbling about NY politics and the Gun Control crazies.

Today, I am awaiting the closing on my next home; in Cochise County, AZ. I can walk out the front door and turn left to gaze directly into Cochise's Stronghold. After doing his, I am kicking myself for not doing it two decades earlier.

I want to tell you that after spending less than a month establishing a residence in AZ, it has been a deep breath of completely fresh air. The people in NY have the governor they have because of voter apathy and background manipulation of who gets on the tickets. That could happen anywhere, but looking at NY'ers vs AZ'ers, I can see why the two states' gun issues differ so greatly.

Congratulations on your move; there are still plenty of places in the good old USA where folks aren't totally eaten up with liberal dumbass.

SF back atcha, Pappy42. This expedition started in FL on Jan 8th, with several weeks being spent looking at Real Estate each in TX and AZ. In the end the decision was made on the basis of climate and humidity. We both need drier air. Kudos to Texas citizens as well as the folks in AZ.

Greg,
CONGRATS on the move to Cochise CO! Hope everything closes to your satisfaction and that you can make that dream of walking out onto your porch a reality! Sounds damn nice and enticing. I've got a son living in Surprise and in fact, this week we are headin to AZ to visit and take in the Berger Nationals. Living in California (as I do), is only a few steps better than NY. It is a well documented fact that the liberals thrive here and this (SCREWED UP STATE) has contributed people like Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein to our great nation. I guess that's like saying what a dog does when he relieves himself/herself. So besides all the political horsecrap, enjoy the future and don't look back.

I'm a big supporter and believer in the 2nd amendment, however I worry about what will happen when the police, state and local and all the types of sheriff's arrive at a situation and can't differentiate the good guys from the jerks and there's people standing all over the place holding guns..sounds like a trajedy waiting to happen !

JarheadNY Congrats on your move also. I'm going to stick around for the blood bath when they try to take them! Good luck out there.
