Area 419/ Zero press question?

I have been contemplating making my own bullets in 17 caliber 30 grain and 20 caliber 50 grain. With the zero press being so strong and precise, would it make a good bullet swaging press? Thanks
Dan

How are you going to make ejection frame work in that press? The ram would need to be modified as well as it needs to be threaded.

Look into modified Reddings or Lee Classic Cast or Lenzi bullet swage presses.

I have a car that I drive to work and around town, and then I have my "beater" for all the dirty work (hunting, fishing, chainsaws and to loan to friends).

... I will be keeping the Rockchucker for the dirty, questionable work.... case forming, decapping dirty cases, and similar items.

No reason you can only have one press.

Well, you guys just shot down my excuse for buying a zero press. :( As of now, I know nothing about making bullets. Just an idea that I would like to try. Looking for a place to start. I guess the zero press is out. Thanks for the information.

Sorry - didn't mean to discourage you. By all means buy the Area 419 ... and be the envy of all your shooting buddies and +95% of guys on the forum!!!

And then buy a different dedicated press for the messy work.

He asked specifically about bullet swaging with it. Thats why i said it wouldn't work for that. if i had extra cash i would love a area419 press for standard reloading uses.

Rolling my own has crossed my mind a time or two but never actually went through with it. But a good place to start would be calling or emailing Corbins. Or just check their site out. They have a how to section and sell starter "packages" for rifle and handgun

Oh man I wish I had not seen this thread. Making your own bullets........mmmm

I dont need another press, I dont need another press, I dont need another press

Goes to F/S forum - WTB bullet swaging set up

In all seriousness rolling your own seems really interesting. I have an area419 but dont think I would use it for this purpose when looking at the Corbin's site. The Area419 press is very strong but has a very distinct non-linear curve so not sure it would work - but its what makes it feel amazing. That being said, the press is really nice and dont know anyone (including me) that has ever regretted buying one.

My Prazipress might have enough leverage, it seems to have more than the Zero, but I wouldn't want to risk messing it up. I think I would just buy a purpose built bullet seating press....

I went on Corbin's web site and much to my surprise, they are located less than an hour from me. Hope to get over there next week. Thanks for the tip. Not sure if I will ever get this going or not but I'll see what they have to offer.
