We're at a critical juncture in firearms ownership, and we all should be members of the NRA. While we may not agree 100% with them all the time, they're the best thing we have going to protect our constitutional rights.NRA Membership link

Moderators, I hope it's okay that I posted this...

dibbs: Life member since 1965, and as of last week, Endowment. It's really disgusting when you start asking around, and you discover how many active shooters do not belong.

It is crucial in my opinion for the liberals and the country in general to see how many out there support their 2nd amendment rights, and by joining the NRA, you are proving that in numbers. I have people give me statistics stating that only 35% of Americans own a gun, so they are not in the majority. The majority don't own guns they state. The NRA openly fights for our 2nd amendment rights, including hiring lobbyists, and paying for advertisements. They are on top of all attacks against us from an early stage. We need to stand together in order to stand against these constant organized and malicious assaults. Yes, I support the NRA with money. I hope more will so they don't wish they had after it is too late.

Been a Life Member 30 plus years, and to Washington DC twice to lobby for them. I also am a member of the NRA ILA.

Annual member since 1971, Life since 2000, ran for the board in 2001,almost finished last!) and when my daughter gets out of college I'll upgrade that membership to endowment.

Don't forget your state associations, get involved at the local level. The NRA watches Washington, but it's the state associations that keep an eye on the statehouses!

Member here as well, since 92/93. I just can't imagine where we would be, in terms of our rights, if it was not for the NRA/ILA.

I've been a member for probably 10+ years. Honestly, I appreciate that the NRA exists, but they are starting to bug me.

Their incessant fear tactics and fund raising mailers appear to be targeted at folks with an average IQ of 80. American Rifleman appears to have turned into a pay-for-review product rag,I'm not sure if the vendors of the products actually pay for articles - but that's the appearance). The NRA branded products and offers,e.g., NRA Wine Club) and the implied profit motive have me think twice about what their true goal is.

What we need is more outreach programs to convert non-shooters into shooters. With current political trends, avid shooters may be a slowly dying demographic. If the NRA doesn't focus on growing the population of sport shooters across parties and ethnicities, eventually democracy will catch up and our firearms rights will diminish because of a voting majority who is scared of firearms.

I get frustrated by two things regarding the NRA. The first one being how few people actually belong to this fine organization despite their claimed love of guns, the Bill of Rights in general and their acute understanding of the ongoing threats to both. The second being the ceaseless cries from the NRA for funding. Curing the first problem will undoubtably cure the second problem.

Life member now, first joined around 1981.
