Are the new Weaver V16 scopes made in Japan?????

Anytime I have bought 1 of these scopes it was made in Japan ( 4-16x42 ) and have always thought for the money they are a heck of a deal. I am redoing a custom 77/22 in 17hmr and changing out the barrel and scope to make it much lighter to use when walking for hours up and down the hills squirrel hunting. I am thinking of getting another 1 of these but wanted to know if the new V16 Weaver 4-16x42 scopes are made in Japan or not. If not I will be on the hunt for a nice used one.

I can't say whether the entire scope is made in Japan, but the bottom of the tube is stamped "made in Japan".

If the bottom says made in Japan like the older scopes do you think the glass is better in the older scopes?

Other than the coating on the glass itself, I have found no difference.

Hope they are better than the T-series scopes. My 24X stopped tracking after less than 200 rounds of small bore. Customer service was not helpful.

Sorry to read that. I have one T-36 and two XR T-36s. I use them mostly for checking the potential accuracy of any new rifle I have just bought and for shooting any rifle at 200 yards or longer. The T-36 has literally had tens of thousands of rounds fire under it, on a variety of rifles centerfire and rimfire, while my XR T-36s have been used mostly with 222 Rem. and 204 Ruger rifles shooting at least a thousand rounds with each of those scopes. I have experienced no issues with any of my Weavers.
