Are Short Action Custom (SAC) bushings the bomb?

I use a SAC bushing now for my 300 Win. I need to bring the neck down 0.009” from fired case to resized brass. To maintain concentricity, I used to take it down in 2 steps with Redding bushings, and I would still have 1 in 10 cases end up with more than 0.03” runout. With the SAC bushing, I can bring it down in one step, with no concentricity issues. I have no idea why…it just works better. I am using a standard type S die and Lapua brass.

I have trued up many of my bushings. Dialing both ends in, its a pain. But after doing enough of them I can tell you that I have not found one yet that the ID was square to the faces or chamfers. Some of the case runout comes from this. I dont have any BC bushings but their dies are excellent I would expect their bushings to be also.

You guys are killing me! I'm just changing from RCBS (hunting) dies to Type S bushing Dies...the learning curve in just the concept was a hill for me. Pretty much settled on the SAC, and now you got me looking at Benchrite and Micron :)

If you’re sizing down that far, I’d recommend a non bushing sizing die. Have the neck honed to fit your needs.

This is the kind of testimony that I find helpful. Thank you.
