Are NXS more durable than BR`s?

I`ve been wondering about this for a while. I plan to get a 8-32 nightforce to use in both competition and in the field for varmint shootin were now and again weather might get bad and blow around dirt & rain. I was wanting a br to use the .125 clicks and front AO but I`m unsure about how much better the nxs would hold up to the enviroment...Does the br have the super mil spec coating too and will it be good traveling down a 50+mile bumpy dirt road and storming over hills and stuff? I know the nxs is one of the toughest scopes made but how about the br???

Personally, I wouldn't put a NightForce on a carry rifle. They're too heavy. My arms would give out after the first hill.

Do some strength and endurance conditioning

Marines are humping 17+ lb. M40A3's on a regular basis.

But seriously, I know that the NXS series is rated to withstand submersion in 100 ft. of water for 24 hrs., while IIRC the BR series is rated to half that depth, if that means anything.

I've seen BR's used for a long time on many rifles chambered for the .50 BMG without any problems, so I'd suspect they'd be tough enough for most of us.

I doubt you will have a problem with either one of them in a nasty environment, but the BR is noticeably clearer than the NXS if that helps any....
A good set of scope covers is a big help in protecting the glass.

Thanks, I thought it might of been a dumb question,it is ) but I had to ask. I`m sure a br will suite me well... I was brousing around last night and seen that Bear Basin`s got a 180day intrest free easy pay sale on till 8-01 and I`ll be ordering one monday. Still not 100% about the br though. Seens like I got to compromise a few things.

Wieght isnt much concern for me, I only plan to carry this rifle within one mile of my truck.

Nothing dumb about your question at all... It's just kinda dumb not to ask !
Things to consider-----
The 1/8th inch clicks on the BR are a plus on a very tight shooting rifle....
As I stated before the BR is a bit clearer on all powers......
The side focus is kinda handy, but the front focus is not a problem and you can tweak it a little bit where as the NXS don't take to that very well.......
Not that much weight difference to worry about....

Go ahead and buy the BR and if you dont like it you can sell it to me for a discount and get the NXS . :wave:
