archery forum like Accurate Shooter?

I consider 6mmbr.com/Accurate Shooter to be a superb example of what internet forums were meant to be. Good info, good sponsors, good membership, etc.

Having set aside my archery gear some 20 years ago, I'm now thinking about getting back into it. Not just because one doesn't need to wear ear protection while shooting a bow... although I suppose the technology could have evolved quite a bit in two decades!

Any recommendations as to the Accurate Shooter equivalent in the archery realm?

The leatherwall. Do you want to shoot training wheels or a real mans bow(traditional).LOL

Years of cycling and shooting fingers/pins have resulted in intermittent hand numbness issues (and I type on a keyboard for much of my living). So, I think I need to use a release with training wheels, but hope to get a bow that is nevertheless long enough to shoot with fingers in a pinch. (no pun intended!)

O-boy, I like my training wheels Jon :)

I bought a new Hoyt Alpha Elite in 2012 a new that year bow, new line up in 2013 had already had replaced my bow..Bows are like computers, out dated every year..20 year hiatus would put you way out of the tech loop..You could always make a stick bow, the string is the tech there..Bow technology the strings have come leaps and bounds since 20 years ago, Strings hold zero much better..

A archery forum would be as bad as a dodge Chevy Ford forum

If it's traditional archery, Trad Gang is by far the best. The leatherwall is full of wannabes and crybabies.

Been shooting a bow since 85.I have shot Hoyt,Jennings, High country and a Mathews conquest since 97.

Never tried a Mathews, when I was a youngster I had a Bear and grew out of that and got a Darton which I liked. Ever since I have had a series of Hoyt's, If I had to change the build quality looks good on the Mathew's..

To the OP, If you choose a short axle to axle bow and shoot a lot make sure you trade it in every year.. Just saying, cam lean on short bows are bad and bearings go fast if it has bearings and not bushings :( Some companies are still sending them out the door with nylon bushings. Most companies are using good strings these days but that is one thing to keep an eye on...

NFAA archery was the best. 28 targets times 4 arrows each. Shots from 10 yards to 80 yards and no sights. BIG excelsior backstops so you didn't ruin your expensive Easton XX75's. I shot traditional in 3-D shoots for awhile recently. 30 arrows just isn't worth the price of admission. I'd draw back and shoot and then stand around getting eaten by mosquitos waiting for some overstuffed geek to stare through his binocluars and tweak his sight. Not my idea of fun.

Archery was my first passion, may still be. I took up rifle shooting some years back and put the bow down. I haven't been on a good Archery site in years, need to find one and blow the dust off the arrows.

I cut my teeth on a bow. There is nothing better for self esteem and fond memories than a successful bow hunt on what ever level you are on as a hunter.

Tradgang is too touchy feely.. More like trad-snobs.. There's a core clic over there and if you don't belong good luck..

Let me speak my mind here, killing a animal is a personal experience and a pact between man and animal. This hunting is a thing that is deep in our existence as a dominant species and a test of survival skills of that itself. You can only enjoy the experience with a understanding. I don't mind what so ever who hunts with what if they have a passion for the hunt. I will do it my way and you do it your way.

Over 12 years I chased arrows all over South East US shooting for Hoyt in the ASA circuit. I finished 5Th and 7Th .In final standings. I won two Finished second and 3rd a few times. practiced and shot daily for 5 year straight. 10 year ago coming home from the World Finals I told the guys I had had enough it wasn't fun any more. Sold all my archery bows but kept a hunting bow and took up shooting long range. When shooting stops being fun I will stop doing that also.

I have been shooting traditional for 29 years.I loved my old compound bow but the traditional became an obsession of collecting and competing. The thing that turned me off was the cheating on scores to win a plastic trophy and see guys arguing over who won.I dropped out and hardly shoot anymore after I tore my shoulders up at my job..I have at least 50 collector bows from bear, wing,Ben pearson, and many others.I started selling them last year and stopped do to my love of all the older bows I have in my collection. They are so gorgeous. But in the end I may have to go for a light poundage compound once again so I can at least shoot.I killed all but one deer with stick bows.I got over confident and grew tired of the trade it in every year.I got sick of technology,I finished up my last seasons shooting 2 bucks running full tilt and the last one was over 25 yds racing through the Woods of macedon NY.God that was exciting back then.I want to do it again next season,I yearn for it.I don't care what bow you choose as long as you are an ethical hunter and stick to the rules.Good luck to anyone reading as bow hunting is a fascinating journey.
