Arbor press

Looking to move up to an arbor press. What's a good one and where can I get it? Thanks, Alan

Alan

Look at the 21st Century Arbor Press options here :
http://www.xxicsi.com/new-generation-arbor-press.html
or
http://www.xxicsi.com/arbor-press.html

The new generation has the longer handle and the option of the loading block. You can order direct from 21st Century.
These all good choices and you will be very happy with any of them.

OR...you could just upgrade now and go with the Hydro press :)

Thanks

Pete

You can get an arbor press from Harbor Freight for around $40 that pushes in a straight line just like all the others. Brunos sells a nice simple arbor press for $80. Sinclair has a similar model too but I think it is around $100. 21st Century sells them direct and so does K&M, but expect to pay a little more. K&M sells models that include a dial indicator to measure seating force.

Here is DIY, cheap, frame can be made from hardwood. Toggle clamp. This one served me well when I was a stool shooter in the 80s and it still sees service today.

Thanks guys I guess the best thing for me to do is just look them up and read back through some old posts to see what people like and dislike about each one. Thanks again, Alan

The Sinclair press is well priced and effective, you don’t require a hex key to adjust which is a handy feature. If you want to spoil yourself try the 21st Century Hydro Press, I have both and would recommend either.

I use in-line seaters when I want to monitor bullet seating force -usually for SR BR competition. To get the most benefit of in-line dies you need an arbor press that is well constructed - linkage works smoothly- yet small enough to allow you to "feel" small variations of seating force. Learning how to properly set up and use the arbor press to it's full potential requires a learning curve. I like the Sinclair and Hart models.

The Hydro does not assist in the seating procedure, it simply allows you to monitor the slight variances in pressure, that you would not feel, to help in sorting Loaded rounds.
