Arbor Press What Make

Those of you that are using a arbor press and Wilson hand dies what kind of arbor press are you using and are you happy with it?

I just got a 21st century, and it's great. before that a K&M……. jim

+1 on the 21st Century. I have 1st & 2nd version Sinclair and a K&M also, but the 21st Century is my absolute favorite.

Joe, I shoot long and separate by seating force, i used the K&M with the force indicator but it is second rate to the new 21st century….. jim

I've heard tell the 21st is the latest and greatest...BUT....I've been using a Sinclair for the last 5 years (and still have a Haydon from before that) and they work just fine for me.

I am a big fan of the Haydon press. It is simple and sturdier than any other that I have seen. I don't have experience with the new version of the 21st Century, but I guess it would depend on where your tastes lie. I am more of a simple is better kind of guy.

I'm using the Sinclair arbor press I bought from a member here.

For a personal tip: I'm using standard Wilson seating dies. I bought one Sinclair micrometer top to use for load development. Once I have the length determined, I'll remove the micrometer top and set the standard top. That let's me use the micrometer top when/where needed. Got two baby girls that will need to go to college some day. Gotta stretch them $$$.

I use the standard Centruy 21 press and like it. I've been thinking about trying his Hydro press we will see.

Another possibility if you use 7/8 dies for sizing along with the arbor press type for inline seating...

Before you spend big bucks on one of those cute little arbor presses from one of the manufacturers previously listed in this thread, consider this.
The press simply compresses the seating die to push the stem down enough to seat the bullet. In a pinch, a heavy rock will that fairly well.
Rather than spend a lot of money on an arbor press that is packaged for a beauty contest, I simply bought this one.

OP....when you look at them and finally buy one,,,I reccomend getting one with a spring return on the ram,,,this simplifies the process greatly,,,,Roger

I'm with you Lapua40X, the cheap but MUCH heavier duty arbor press comes in quite handy for many other needs as well. I bolted mine to a 1" steel plate, does not get moved too often. Saw an article years ago in Varmint Hunter mag or Precision Shooting where a guy put a return spring on top just like the expensive models; a simple task.

Also, any drill press will also do the job just as well (or better) and I'll bet most folks have a drill press, or a need for one.

Remember, this is not a beauty contest. ;D
