I would probably use 200 as the minimum but some .22 stuff would still be over 3000 at 200.

A 60 deg angle would mean the front opening would only be 1/2 of the length of the steel. That's more material than I wanted to spend.

We use a 30 degree forward lean on our traps. I would recommend 1/2” AR550 and 200 yards MINIMUM. Speed kills. Rapid, repeated impacts in the same spot are hard on them, too. You may also consider a sacrificial AR500 or AR550 gong hanging inside the trap behind the paper target. Or, like a previous poster stated, put your paper at 100-200 with the trap at 300 or so.
