AR triggers - which one?

My son has a lower to be populated. Don’t know what he intends to use it for but was asking about triggers. I have 3 15’s and one 10 all have Geissele 2 stage HSNM triggers. He was asking about Timney drop ins. What say you all?

I have a triggertech on my 10. I have a geissele for my 15, but i haven't decided on an upper yet. Triggertech is adjustable, i don't have any experience with geissele yet.

I have a velocity and works fine for what i need. I have another from wilson combat. Theres is mill spec that they polish up and man it feels good. Just recently got a savage recon. It has a trigger that savage works over their self and also feels real good. Timney should be a good one.

I like Drop ins...

My Triggertech competition is excellent.
AR Gold Adjustable Trigger probably has the best break
Had some good and some bad luck with Elf triggers, mostly good, their support guys are awesome and got me to test some "beta" products that worked well.
For a low cost great trigger, Velocity is tough as nails. It's what I have in my "end of the world" AR.

I think he should first decide what he expects to be doing with the AR and whether he likes single or two stage triggers.
For 'precision' work, the Geissele HSNM is hard to be with the ability to get below 1/2 lb in the second stage. But, the first stage is a min 1 3/4 lbs. As Sandstorm mentioned, there's nothing like a Jewel or Bix n Andy trigger in a bolt rifle.

The TT Diamond has a very light first stage, but a min of 1 1/4 lb in the second. The break is much cleaner than the G HSNM. [Full disclosure - all three the TT Diamonds I bought had to be returned]

For action related formats [e.g., 3 Gun], people tend to go with a trigger in the 3-4 lb range.

For SHTF, absolute reliability and enough weight in the trigger to account for the adrenaline.

My only experience with Timney was the Daniel Horner. The second stage 'wall' was very hard to find. It got returned.
A friend who also competes in highpower used the Calvin Elite for awhile, but the second stage got heavier over time. He's now using a different trigger.

First let me say I am not an AR guy. Back Before Biden got elected I decided I would build his/hers ARs just to have. I gathered parts from various places and ended up with a couple Frankenstein ARs that actually shoot quite well. We built them more for coyote hunting purposes than anything. I ended up using the rise armament rave triggers in both rifles. One is curved and the other is a flat shoe. I did that simply to see which one I liked best. The curved is much more comfortable in my opinion but I am very happy with the triggers for hunting and general shooting purposes.

I have a couple geissele NM and a G2. I also have a LaRue which if i was not looking for adjustable is the one I would go with. My one Geissele NM has about 20k rounds on it and needs very little maintenance but I did swap the hammer spring for peace of mind. It's great too.
