AR Platform for F/TR - barrel length?

I'm happy with my Geissele NM trigger. 4 1/2 total with ~4# first stage & 1/2# 2nd. Takes a bit of getting used to if you are not a 2-stage trigger shooter.

I'm in the process of moving and have a complete hold on anything
shooting related but i still keep the noggin active......If the nut is steel,
i would open it up as large a possible then match a bull barrel to it.
This would be for the bolt gun option. Another idea would be to go
to a 1.5" reverse bull. where you slide on the nut on the chamber end
then torque up the barrel extension. You could have a barrel as thick
as what would fit in the shroud. Of course keeping with weight rules.
With the bolt system, there is no gas tube and a way thicker barrel can
take up that space. The only concern then comes into play is legal weight.
At 22 lbs, lots of wiggle room.

Yeah, make the barrel look like a baseball bat......LOL Weight wise,
even have an idea for that pertaining to the barrel, and no carbon
fiber ones. No fluting either.

Back in the mid 2000's just for sh-ts and grins I shot the Mid Range Match at the SWN's with my White Oak Armament Match rifle. It had a 26" heavy 1:7 twist Wilson barrel with a Wyeld chamber. I had a Geissley SR trigger and a Weaver T-36 scope and a Harris bipod. I removed the rear sling holder as well. My load was a Sierra 80 gr MK and Varget in Winchester cases with Winchester SRP's. I set up my shooting stool to catch my brass in the large side pouch. I finished about middle of the pack with a fairly low X count but it was fun and my scorer was impressed with how well it did.
