Thanks for these notes - didn't think of the 22 Grendel, great ideaAs an AR guy I'm mixed on the 22 Nosler; but curious enough I may try one. High pressure would certainly push me to a rifle length +2" gas system for any chance of reasonable brass life. I'd be looking at 55gr varmint up to 77ish gr match. Say 24-26in barrel pending some dwell calculations.
Benefits over a 22 Grendel (or other similar sized cases) are the availability of bolts of decent quality.
In a scale of 1-10; the appeal of 22 nosler is equal to 50 Beowulf...
6mm AR is a bit more appealing in my opinion.
Tag to see if anyone has first hand experience.

I bought an AR Stoner barrel , dies & brass as soon as it came out. Put it in a rifle length system and the results are so bad that I can't even call them disappointing. Brass is a joke, I haven't found a load yet that doesn't rip up the rim of the case. I don't think it's an issue of bad brass, but a bad case design. It needs a .440 head on the case. When you get to where the brass isn't getting killed, there is no advantage over a 223 in terms of velocity. From the big sales on anything 22 Nosler & the gun magazines really pushing articles about how great it is, my guess is that it will be a distant memory soon. In the mean time, I've got a SS fluted (really pretty) barrel, dies and brass for sale. Cheap.
Before you sell that barrel, do you have an adjustable gas block you can try on it? cut the gas back to soften the extractionI bought an AR Stoner barrel , dies & brass as soon as it came out. Yes, I was running an adjustable block and with the gas turned off, the rims are OK, if it ejects, not so much. Before you sell that barrel, do you have an adjustable gas block you can try on it? cut the gas back to soften the extraction
