Been shopping around for a new hard case for AR. Any suggestions for a nice hard case somewhere in the $100 to $200 dollar range. Open to any suggestions as I currently have a nylon case and its time to switch to a decent hard case.

My personal preference is the Pelican 175 and Storm iM3300, the Pelicans run around $200 each $20 more for the storm version, I always wait and buy them on sale and I'm able to get them for around $165-175 for the Pelican and $20 more for the storm version (without foam). I always buy these cases without foam, I purchase higher density closed cell foam locally since it offers a much cleaner cut, doesn't absorb moisture, and offers better protection, closed cell foam you runs me about 30 to 35 dollars. Both cases are almost identical interior dimensions so it gives me the flexibility of swapping my foam between cases for each rifle. Both models are nearly identical, waterproof with autopurge valve, front and end handles, good rollerblade type wheels, 4 latches on front; however the Storm has 6 total latches (one on each end).
Both of these cases are very bulletproof and adequately sized for an m4 sized AR and all your standard field/range essentials; here's my standard setup that fits great in this size case:
-AR with Magpul PRS (if you run collapsible stocks you can step down to the shorter case)
-Can
-Atlas bipod
-cleaning rod
-Lucas bore guide
-Otis caliber specific cleaning kit
-2/3oz bottle CLP
-Borka driver kit in Tab roll case
-lenspen
-Rangefinder
-3 mags
-Leupold magnetic bore sight
It may seem like a lot to carry in a case, but it works for me. I like knowing that I can grab my case and head to the range or out to shoot some yotes; and I have all my essentials with me so my trip isn't wasted because I'm missing something. Hope this helps, happy shopping.
