Rifle Case for 53" long rifle.

Looking suggestions or ideas on a case for a 20lb, 53" long rifle. First choice would be a hard case because most often it'll be in a pickup bed. But maybe a Champion's Choice heavy padded case would do well. Anyone have experience with them? This will be all local hauls 100 miles or less.

TIA for input/advice.

I would Highly recommend this model {Pelican case}
Internal length measures 54 - 1/4"

Soft, but I like a Savior classic double case as there's more than enough room, I can use it for one large rig or two smaller. Their LRP is worth a look too. They are built like a tank and the pockets make it super nice for dedicated gear. That said, pretty hard to beat a good hard case as not only will it be protected better, has wheels, you can fly with it, and if your pickup bed is dirty it's easy enough to wash it, not so much with a soft bag.

Thanks for the response’s. I’ll check these out. Impressed with Savior cases looks like real quality….hadn’t heard of them before. Pelican is a little pricey for what want, but real quality there too. I’d looked HF, but not thought of angled stowage. Maybe…?

+1 on what jxb said.. The Savior soft cases are real nice. They are not as “soft “sounds, if that makes sense. Very good quality cases imo…. A hard case sure is hard to beat for protection.. Think about how much is invested in your weapon and scope….. That should make your decision easy…

Edit: just looked at the Daily Bulletin on AccurateShooter. It list the Harbor Freight hard case on sale now and some soft case. I would still look hard at Savior for a soft case if that’s what you want. Link to Daily Bulletin

If you're traveling with your rifle in your vehicle, the Champions Choice padded case in 58". Case has shoulder straps for hands free portability. If your shipping or traveling by flight, Pelican Vault case and rifle inside on an angle. Nothing against Harbor freight case but not my first choice.

FYI,
If you rifle has an adjustable buttpad hardware, you can remove the buttpad and most likely set the rifle in straight in the Pelican Vault case. 52" interior if not mistaken.

Cham[piopns Choice was my goto on soft case until I saw shipping charges. Savior would the one if I was going soft case. Since I do travel in a pickup, really best stay with a hard case.

Yeah, the shipping charge is quite concerning. I actually had a buddy that was traveling home in vacinity of CC and he grabbed bags for us. Lucky me!

Places that supply F-class equipment should have such items. I had this problems a long time back (10+yrs) and ended up buying a fishing rod case. Its a hard shell case.
