AR gas block with factory handguards

So i want to keep the factory handguards but i want to take off the factory front site . Is there anyone that makes a low pro gas block that i can use factory handguards ?

If its the factory clamshells. When you knock out the pins and remove the gas block hehind it wil be a small steel cup that sits between the gas block and shoulder. Just leave that in place and put on your new block. Just make sure you get a long enough block to cover both pin knotches in the barrel.

Just fyi the two pins that hold the block on are tapered so make sure you hit the small end to go out. This is unless there is a small chance yohr factory one used set screws. Matt

Yep thay are factory 2 piece . Who makes a gas block that uses the factory taper pins ?

That's a good question when it comes to using the pins.I haven't seen one. I use the type that clamps on instead of set screws. Just take a look at all of them at brownells.

a colt 6724 uses a gas block that is essentially a front sight gas block with the sight milled off, it uses the tapered pins. i have one, but not sure i want to sell it.

you can take yours off and cut off the sight tower with a bandsaw or even a hacksaw. Then contour it to your liking and put some cold blue on it and reinstall. It will work and not cost anything but time and a little bluing. Those sight towers are sometimes a pain to remove though so sometimes you can just tape things up and cut it in place. you just cant get quite as low. Matt

I would think that a national match free float tube would allow the use of the factory hand guards and allow the use of any gas block.

The front site came off pretty easy. I got lucky. I know nothing about cold blue ...
