Ar-15 front sight question

So i have a 18 in mid length barrel thats made for a low profile gas block . But can i put a clamp on front sight and use standard handguards?

Just measure barrel outer diameter under gas block and get a sight that matches. Typical F-mark sights are .750" I believe.

Barrels are made in different diameters at the gas block location with 3/4 " being the most common.
A low profile gas block is made to fit inside a handguard. If you can be a little more specific about what you are planning to do, I'm sure someone will assist you.

Im wanting to put a f marked front sight like the ARMS or fulton armory clamp on and use standard 2 piece clam shell handguards

Should work just fine for you, at least the handguard part. You want the standard, non-F marked, front sight assembly though. F marked for 14-16", standard for longer barrel length.

Might recommend a pic-rail gas block instead of one-piece. Get a detachable frontsite and you are set. Remove the front sight when you use a scope, or buy a folding unit.

cool.... i have a scoped upper . Im just wanting to build a iron sight gun . And not spend a ton on it. I was told that if i use a flat top upper i need a F marked front sight if i use a detachable carry handle.. but im not sure. Would really like to get an A2 upper but like i said its just a fun gun

1 in 9 crome molly .. 20 in with A2 front sight.. not sure if thay are realy worth a crap. Its about what id spend on handguards, front sight and delta ring

Anyway, if you get a mid length handguard, a clamp on sight/gasblock will work fine. Be sure to get one that matches the barrel diameter at the gas block. A lot of guys now are using handguards that extend past the gas block then putting their sight on the rail. That's what the low profile gas block is all about.
