ar barel tenon

hi lad
aim biulding my frist ar and would like to know what are the pros and con of locktiteing the tenon into the reciver?
thanks lads

Most manufacturers loctite because they just don't want anyone to monkey with it. I build a lot of ARs and can tell you that they just don't need it with the proper torque. With that said, I still screw the extension on until the las 2 threads are showing an apply one drop of blue loctite as an extra measure. For my own personal guns, I don't use any and keep reusing the same barrel extension over and over again.

I think that p17enfield is talking about using locktite between the upper receiver and the bbl extension.

Many of the top AR builders do this as they don't want any movement between the bbl/extension and the upper receiver. It locks the assembly rigidly together.

Just my .02 worth.

I'm a little scared to try the 600 series of Retaining componds. You might download there data sheet and see what kind of heat temp it takes to get it apart. 272 will come apart at 300 And I think 200-250 is more realistic. The 600 series would definitely be better. If you can take it apart? Let me know Id be interested
