Ar 15 trigger assembly

Hey guys,
First id like to say hello and thanks for the feed back, im new to reloading and this site, im really enjoying everything about it, my question is, I would like to change my stock trigger assembly in my AR, i would like a much lighter pull, what is the best trigger on the market and who supplys it.

A few years back a fellow name of Bill Geiselle came up with a design that far & away is considered the best AR trigger design. He's since expanded on his first match trigger product so just about every kind of shooting discipline possible with an AR can have the optimum features.

These triggers can be purchased from several of the top AR vendors (White Oak Armament, 6mmAR, etc.), Bill's own web store at: http://geissele.com/, or most of the major shooting sports suppliers like Creedmoor Sports, Midway USA, etc.

He supplies everything you need for a safe & easy installation, is ready & willing to answer questions by e-mail or phone call if you have any before buying or during installation & later use. Most can be installed in about 30 minutes.

Shop around & you might save a buck or two but rest assured they'll all sell you probably the finest AR trigger made today.
 
+1 for Geiselle triggers. I bought a JP enterprise trigger and although it is nice it has had several malfunctions that were traced back to the way the sear engagement is adjusted on that trigger adjusted. The hammer would follow the bolt forward every so often. The JP was and is a nice trigger but it now resides in my varmint rifle setup and the Geiselle is in my run and gun and match rifle. Much more reliable and better trigger pull as well.

I've installed so many in my buddy's guns, I joke that he has his own parking spot at the company.
 
Well this one's been just about beaten to death! Steve pretty well nailed it with the first post, so the rest of us are just piling on. Seriously, there are a number of very good triggers available on the market today, but all of them are (and rightly should be) judged against the Geisslle. They are THE standard that the rest are measured by.

Just be careful about going too low in weight, with any trigger. Remember, it's an AR, and not a bolt gun.

Too true!

I've had one of Bill's first production run HSM triggers in my spacegun for several seasons now, set to a 2nd stage break of ~ 8 oz., 28 (1-3/4 lb) total. Sounds like a lot compared to some featherlight bolt guns but once you feel how crisp & predictable it breaks it seems much lighter than my Chatillon meter repeatedly reports.

Last season I started having grief with the first stage (kinda rough & gritty) & more than once lost the 2nd stage entirely. Early this year I pulled the whole trigger group out for a thorough clean & re-adjust & got it all back like Day 01 in about an hour.

Just goes to show a little preventive maintenance (I'd NEVER cleaned or touched it since installing) will work wonders if you're willing.
 
There's a lot goin' on there, when that bolt's slappin' back and forth as fast as it does! Still amazes me what a superb job Bill's done on his triggers, and how incredibly good a pull you can get with these assemblies.

Not sayin' that'll help me as much as I'd like at Perry in a few weeks, but at least it's one less thing I have to worry about!
 
I think the Geiselle's most competetive feature is durability. Getting a light trigger/fast trigger isn't atom splitting... but making one that accomplishes this and will run thousands of rounds without doubling or breaking is an accomplishment.
 
Not positive this still applies to some (all? Any?) of Bill's line of triggers, but on the first iteration he moved the trigger 'shoe' (what your finger rides upon) 1/8" forward of the original position which for me is a Wonderful Thing as I have a wide palm & long but skinny fingers. The extra reach is much more natural than other triggers I'd tried before settling on his product.
 
Geissle trigger , possibly the most resold accessory on the web ?

Having tried one, they leave me cold, in material made and performance.

Unless you compare them to a Mauser, then they seem pretty good.

Get the X-treme, ..........sheesh, be real.

The Rock River National Match trigger has a 3 pound trigger pull and costs less than $100.00
 
It's made from EDM-cut full hardness steel and coated with FailZero.
A good sear is all about hardness. Machinability is not a positive attribute for a sear.

No castings.

That's funny, Geisselle also uses full hardness edm cut parts. What a coincidence. In fact they are cut on 3 Makino edm's. Makino is widely known as the industry leader in edm technology and the machines easily hold a tolerance to .0001".
I am not familiar with ZeroFail, but FailZero is a coating known for its lubrisity, however there is no need to coat the entire part since the only critical contact points are the sear and disconnector.
I guess I'm just trying to learn something here, so where does the "better" part come in again?

If what you say is true, then it is just a matter of price, isn't it?

I've pulled both, and there isn't anything about a Geiselle that makes it better than an X-treme.

I like the FailZero because it doesn't attract dirt. I think that is a big plus.
 
I guess. I never used an Extreme, but I have heard that they are good from other folks. The Geisselle is certainly more expensive, but I am not qualified to say that one is better than the other, but I can say that the Geisselle is top notch from all of the ones that I have used over the last 15 or so years. Thanks for the info.

Rock River is a great start, Especially when doctered by John Holliger, ( he still will do that), but you will eventually yearn for more speed and crispness, as you progress.

Love my Jewel trigger, but I don't know enough about AR-15's and their aftermarket triggers to say it's the best. I went with the Jewel on the advice of a friend who is an expert on the subject. Gotta say, though, that without his help (OK, he really did it) I dunno if I'd ever have gotten it installed. No machining or hand-fitting required, but the included instructions truly suck.
