my suppressed 18" DD is overgassed, throwing brass at 2o'clock
I'm running 3.8oz H buffer now, looking for something heavier

Try a silent capture spring and set of weights from jp. You can tune how you want with weight and spring for dwell time.

thank you for some very good alternative options
The H buffer that I have now came with MK18 lower but it's too light for the 18" DDM V4 suppressed
a low profile adjustable gas block or tungsten buffer weights might be the way to go if I can't find the heavy H4 buffer
I don't shoot my AR's enough to justify the cost of JP silent captured spring system but I do like it a lot so I'm not ruling it out yet
It is my SHTF rifle so I do wanna do it right the first time

Thank you again.

I don’t like messing with the gas at the tube. Too many things can go wrong (loose or strip the screw, hard to adjust under a hand guard. I like them both with full gas, just control the bolt speed and dwell time with the buffer spring and weight. A heavy spring from Geisele and heavy mil spec buffer will probably get you there. The bolt will run like a typewriter then and not be as snappy. I actually like heavy weight in all the buffers. Light is only for a go fast gun, that when you are messing with a glass block. Best of luck. Send me a pm and I’ll check my drawer tonight for a heavy mil spec buffer. You can have it if you pay for shipping. -Wes

Thanks Wes, I took your advice, bit the bullet and ordered JP Silent Captured Spring with additional spring kit and extra tungsten weight, now I have a ton of different configurations to play with.

Last piece of advice. Take the buffer retainer pin out of your rifle while you are tuning it with the jp (there is no Constant Spring pressure to get the spring and weight out of the rifle when you depress the buffer and if you have a really tight one you are going to be sorry you didn’t remove it before you started) , you can actually completely remove it if you want, just have to remember you did when you break down the rifle, or the silent capture will hit the dirt when you divorce the upper and lower. Also, that little retainer screw for the springs and weights is red loctited on there. Eat your Wheaties before you try to take it off.
