Ar-10 in 22 creedmoor

was looking at putting together 22 creedmoor ar10 and was curious as to woukd It be a realistic 1000 yard rifle. Not sure how much energy lost by semi auto. anyone have experience with this. could It be 1 moa at 1000 minus shooter error?

So basically for an average shooter it’s a waste of money
Nothings a waste of money if that's what you really want to do, however you may be disappointed in your results as a gas gun at that distance is extremely difficult to be consistent with.
A bolt gun in a 6mm Dasher will serve you much better for example or 7mm bench rest platform or F-Class style...just my biased opinion of course. YMMV

How about a 22 bra

I have a friend that did pretty much the same thing but in 243win. The range they shot at was just shy of 1000 yds (960) and he shot 6 inch 3 shot groups. But what Egale said was the truth about shooter skill. He is a every experienced shooter, the dept he worked for believed in continuing education and sent him many places over his career, to train with the best. When I got my AR10 the first thing he said was "This is not like a bolt action you need to constantly and consistently drive this thing."

Specs, man. Specs!

*please*

Scroll down to number 8.

AR10's are a whole different animal. The bolt carrier is huge and heavy. The gun moves all over the place. Rebuilding your position consistently is paramount. Follow through and trigger control too.
If I were to build another one I'd go rifle gas +2, lightweight bolt carrier assembly, Superlative Arms gas bleed block and a Slash heavy buffer. 6x47 or 6CM.

Yes, the two my friend had had long gas tubes, and long barrels, one a Bartlein, and one a Kreiger. He thought they shot as fast as a bolt action rifle in the same barrel length.

I shot an Aero Precision for several years. Front and rear bag riders. It was a 6.5 CM and loved 140 VLDs shooting mag length. I did add an Elfmann trigger. Honest .5" and under with a lot of different bullet powder combos.

I have a .243 upper in DPMS Gen 1 that shoots real well but the big AR is like dancing with the fat girl in PE class. Just feels different than a bolt gun or a small AR.

I have a magpul PRS stock on it now. For sale if you want one.

My FFL has a .22 GT gas gun for sale that shot real well with 85.5 and 90’s.

I am getting the itch for the AR platform but dont want to stock and tool up for another caliber. So i am leaning towards the AR10 in 6.5 Creedmoor. Trying to keep things simple. But i do love a good 243.
