Introducing the Applied Ballistics (AB) Mobile app.

image049.png

This state of the art ballistics program is currently available for android devices (it will be developed for iPhone/iPod in the future).

The AB Mobile app:
Accounts for all major and minor trajectory variables
Pulls in weather data and latitude from GPS or blue-tooth link with Kestrels.
Has a library of (Litz) measured G1 and G7 BC's
Features custom drag curves for specific bullets as in-app purchases ($1.99)
Displays single shot solution in HUD view or Reticle view
Displays multi-shot solution in Reticle view, table, and graph
Offers Ballistic Calibration, so you can enter your observed drop at range and the program will calibrate; muzzle velocity, projectile drag (BC), and drop scaling over various segments of the trajectory.
Web-sync feature which allows you to store your rifle/ammo libraries online for quick retrieval.

For those familiar with the Shooter app for android and iOS, the AB Mobile app is basically an extended/advanced version of Shooter. AB Mobile was programmed by the same developer, and uses the same solver, but has a number of additional features that extend capabilities and interfacing beyond any ballistics app currently on the market.

You can view the user manual here

The app is available for purchase in the Google Market

Bryan,
I have a android with shooter already on it, I would like to update to your new one but it isn't in my market place, I am dumb when it comes to this stuff how do I get it on my phone, I went to the site you provided but not sure what to do next.
Wayne.

j,
Sorry, no projected timeline yet for the iPhone version. When it is available for iPhone, it will cost the same as the android version ($29.99).

Wayne,
You'll have to go into Google play on your phone, it's in with all your apps. In Google Play, search for: Applied Ballistics and it will come up and give you the 'buy' button.

Bryan,
I am sorry I jumped the gun, I got it figured out, my phone is due to be changed out and I don't know if it's transferable but I can call the phone outfit and find out sorry for bothering you and thank you for your continued work in the shooting world, I would like to talk with you someday about bullets, take care and thanks again.
Wayne.

Wayne,

Changing phones is no problem; your google account remembers everything you've purchased, and your new phone will suck it right in and you won't have to pay again. Also, you can even sync your rifle and ammo libraries to a web profile so that when you re-download the app on your new phone, you can sync it up and not have to re-input all that stuff again.

Bryan,
Stop hanging out on these gun forums and get to work on the I-phone app! I am reading the second edition of your book. All I can say is Thanks! You did an amazing job. I look forward to shooting with you sometime!

Thank you Bryan,...Later
Wayne.

I have the Shooter app... Is there an upgrade to the Shooter app to add the new features of the AB app?

If not, are there any intentions of offering the AB app at a discount to those who already purchased the Shooter app?

Not trying to get something for free, just curious!

Standing by for an Ipad app for me iPad 3 (New iPad). I have your book and use your program on the PC. Thank you for your efforts.

Ok so i have a ? when i go to use the ballistic calibration it gives me a distance for range 1 of 895 to 1093. My load goes subsonic at about 1300yrds. Was wondering if there is a way to use a shorter distance. The 1000 yrd range is a 2 1/2 hr drive while the 500m range is right down the road. Thanks

This!!

I dont think I will have access to the distances you need to input to cal my tables. Help!!

Currently it's not possible to calibrate outside the optimal ranges. I'm considering loosening this up to allow calibration outside those ranges, but still displaying them as suggested ranges.

The reason it's like that is to prevent calibrating at ranges that aren't long enough for an accurate calibration. You could actually damage the accuracy of your solution by calibrating at such a short range where your resolved drop isn't large enough in relation to group size.

As it is now, if you really want to calibrate the program outside the optimal ranges, you have to do it the old-fashioned, manual way, by iterating on MV input until it matches your drop.

All understandable. I like the idea of a suggested yardage and the ability to use a shorter distance. And yes right now i am doing it the old fashion way. I needed a 1min. shift at 500 m made the change and saw very little change at 300 and 400m so i can see your point of needing distance to properly calculate. But it seems kind of silly to have the go in and manually change it when it has the ability to calculate it for you. The app calculating it with a shorter distance is going to be more accurate than me trying to do it the old fashion way. On a positive note i used the data from your new app to take 2ND place is my first 1000yrd UKD tactical shoot sat. morning. Was a tie and i lost the shoot out bad wind call on my part(guess i need to go to one of your wind reading classes). All together this is the most advance software i have seen yet a great app. I would recommend it to everyone(except the guys i am shooting against).
