aperture (peep) sight question

I have never owned a rifle or shot a rifle with an aperature sight. I have a Savage 65M 22 mag that isn't being used for anything right now, and I was thinking of adding a aperature sight to give them a try.

Any suggestions on what may work as a sight for this rifle? What should I look for in a sight?

Is this sight intended for hunting or competition target?
Over the years, I've come to prefer Anschutz almost exclusively for my rifles open sights. Not that I haven't used buck horn and other types of open sights. But if I have a choice I'll take Anschutz when I can get them.

if you don't want to spend a lot of money try to find a williams fool proof. i've used them on all maners of rifles and had good results.

may be difficult to fit a peep to it.

cant see a standard williams FP fitting it.

guess it would have to be a top of receiver or barrel mount for the rear.
dont know whats out there. not much help I guess.
I also have one of those rifles. got it in about 1978 christmas present.
simply horrible trigger, lol.

If the model 65M has a receiver grooved for scope mounting, Williams makes several rear peep sights that will fit, attaching to the receiver via the scope mount grooves. Depending on the sight line, the model FP-AG-TK (high sight line) or the model FP-GR-TK (low sight line). These two have target style knobs; they also make at least one more basic model that also fits in the scope groves, but, while much more compact, it is not as quickly adjustable as these two (it requires the use of a srewdriver).
