Apache Gunworks Communication

Has anyone received an email reply or a barrel order from Jim in the last couple of months. I placed and order and paid for a barrel on June 7, 2016 and can't get a reply or an update. The site says he accepted more orders than he could handle and is overwhelmed with emails but is working thru the work load and emails. My issue is not knowing if my order has been lost, misplaced or just hasn't gotten to it.

Got you beat. I have order with him months earlier and still have not received it. No barrel no email response. You are an idiot at this point if you prepay for a barrel. All I see when I read covered up with work, problems with hiring guys, overwhelmed is excuses!

Is this the apache gunsmith on the east coast that is well known for xp-100 builds?

If so ive used him and he was a little slow, but very thourogh and did very good work. I was very pleased.

He was on vacation earlier this month. I have an email into him right now also. I bet he is still digging out of the hole from vacation. I talked to him late October.

Dennis Hafner (sp?) might be able to help, however, I haven't seen him a while.
I don't think he is helping or working there anymore, but I may be wrong he had some article on his site about just doing everything himself, I bought A barrel from his brother got it in 4 days, the guy that runs Bison gunworks

Had the same problem from Apache for a .308 barrel. I ordered it February 2016 and he said 12 weeks. So May passes and nothing. I paid in full. He didn't reply to any emails and that was my only form of communication since I did not have his phone number. Then in the middle of September a random package showed up on my door and it was my .308 barrel!! It's quality work. Very nice barrel for $275. I'm just extremely frustrated with his customer service and his lead times. Don't tell me three months and it ends up being 7!!! I will not go back to him again. Everyone's busy, I'm busy, you're busy, the lady next door is busy. That's not a good excuse for poor communication and delivery. I wouldn't expect an email from him at all.

Thanks Melvin for making me aware of this................

For clarification and to avoid any future confusion, the comments by the OP pertains to Apache Gun Works out of LA (?) that specializes in Savage work. There is also an Apache Rifle Works (retail gunshop) out of TX.

I have operated Apache Machine & Custom, LLC in NC since 2007 and are in no way affiliated with the companies above. "Apache Machine" as we are commonly known specializes in custom XP-100 builds, precision long range hunting rigs, PRS style tactical rifle, and precision gas gun builds. We pride ourselves in precision machining, top-tier components, and meticulous attention to detail with professional customer service. As Sniper338 mentioned above, we are not the fastest or the cheapest, but the end result is worth the wait and the investment. We will never rush through any build to meet a deadline - quality comes first. We've had a great 2016 and I want to thank all our customers across the US. We are nearing completion of a new building and hope to move in over the next couple months.

This is indeed a very demanding business and I sincerely hope the folks over at "Gun Works" get everything sorted out and wish them the very best.

Thanks and Merry Christmas!!

i pre paid for an apachie barrel and was given a 3 month wait. ok w/ that. 4mo later no barrel so i sent an inquiry. no answer. 2 weeks another inquiry. no answer. another 2 weeks and another inquiry.
got an answer on that one.....i got flamed, order cancelled and refund!!!!!
least i got my money back!!!!!
that wont happen again

Still no barrel and still no response to emails. Worst customer service I've seen from a smith in years. Will never do business there again. Website is nothing but excuses why your not getting prepaid barrels done!

You'll eventually get it. His work is awesome. If he had better customer service it would be worth the wait. Sadly, no communication or friendly customer service it's not worth it at all. I got my barrel, but I'll never go back to him. I feel your pain!!!

Holy smokes I guess I got lucky. I ordered a 30-06 Serengeti for a Savage and had it from him in less than 2 weeks. On the other hand I ordered a stock from someone else and it took almost 14 months instead of the promised 5-6 months so I feel your pain.

Ordered a bbl back in April 16 didn't hear from again and couldn't get ahold of. Read posts about hiring new help and saw bbls still being sold on eBay finally got a hold of him thru ebays messaging system and worked out a deal for a criterion turned blank instead of his stand ard blanks and got it within a wk once I talked to him. Said his help had marked as completed but was nvr sent. Great bbl shoots amazingly but idk if problems were worth the wait bc It took 8 9 months to receive and he promised a month or 2 originally

Agreed...not worth the wait.

A buddy of mine got his 270 back from Steve about Christmas time. The work was SPECTACULAR!! His first group at 100 while breaking in the barrel was less than 1/2". I better quit the kudos about here or he will be reaching for my wallet next.... :)

Steve :)
