Anyone with quick load, I have a ?

Jon, those sound like great results with the IMR-3031. I will try some in my friend's gun. He is a hunter, so I have ruled out the Scenar for his use but could you ell me the base to ogive dimension and the overall length for a couple of your bullets? I think we will end up using the Sierra 165 SP GameKing given his throating and the length of his magazine. I expect to try some next week with Varget but i will be looking for some 3031 to try.

Tony, I measured 5 bullets OAL and have an average length of 1.288
Base to ogive measures .675
These have been extreamly consistant in weight and bearing surface

Thanks Scout1 on the update, I'll have to give 3031 a shot or two also. I have a lb just laying around.

As for ruling out the Scenar for hunting, I've shot several deer here in ND with mine and they work very well. A majority of the critters that I've taken with the Scenar are coyotes, and they work very well. I've shot deer from 30yds to a bit over 450 and they all end up with a nice hole through and through. Pretty decent wound channel, but I've also heard of guys hitting deer and the bullet just punching through like an FMJ, but they were well over 450yds.

Thanks again guys

All arrived today and thank you very much. I am finishing some brass prep as we speak. That Scenar is a very interesting bullet. It looks so long but will probably seat a lot like the SST because the Scenar boat tail is longer than the SST. Probably has something to do with the high BC. My friend will probably not take a shot at a deer beyond 200 yards so it might work for deer. He is a very competent marksman. Shot Expert as a Marine and just bagged an elephant and Cape Buffalo in Zimbabwee.

Tony, pay no attention to the cannalure on the SST's. Seat them where you want or better yet where the barrel wants it. I had good luck from 2.80 through 2.87 which was at the max that would fit in the magazine. The Scenars are also jump tollerant and shoot well for me from 2.80 - a jam at 2.92. Q.L. will start flashing a box that says there's no berring surface in the neck at around 2.91 - I just click OK and move along, when you seat the bullet and hold an unseated bullet next to it you'll see.

Good luck and keep us in the loop as you start testing.

I'm still waiting on some range reports from the .284
