Anyone using the Giraud Power Case Trimmer?

I am searching for a new fast and accurate case trimming method. I would appreciate any experiences and/or thoughts from anyone using the Giraud power trimmer.

Recommendations for other trimmers also welcome. Thank you.

I really like mine. I use to hate trimming brass and deburr/chamfer by hand. Now with the Giraud it's fun and takes no time

Very easy to change your set up for trimming differenthe brass. Simple to use

I've had my Giraud trimmer for over 10 years. It has been the best reloading processing tool I have ever purchased.
I have shell holders for 11 different cartridges . The machine is in use weekly and I would not be without it.

I really like how fast it is in the videos and the fact that I won't have to debur or chamfer the mouths. Looks like Ill be giving Giraud a call. Thank you for the input.

If you dont want the waiting period or cost you can get the pma trimmer. It works very well, adjusts easy but doesnt chamfer or debur. I use both. When i dont wanna change over the giraud i just grab the pma

I have their Tri-Way Trimmer ($98) and it works great. I had a variable speed motor left over from another project and use it with the trimmer.

If you are working enough brass to justify the purchase or if you just want the best thing out there for speed and consistency the Giraud power trimmer is the way to go.

There are two items that are almost never sold except when someone gets out of shooting, or at least reloading, Giraud trimmers, and Benchsource annealers.

If you do more than one chambering, order cutters set up for both. The only PITA part of these things is adjusting the cutter blade switching cases (and it is a PITA) It's an extra $35 for the second cutter I think, you will be glad you did.

I was wondering about the Tri Way as well. If you you have a 223 family Tri Way but want to trim some larger cases, say 260 Remington, do you have to buy a whole new 308 family Tri Way?
Or are there interchangeable shell holders available like the power annealer?

I have the Giraud for 223 , 22-250 and 6BR. It is wonderful. I highly recommend getting the cutter for each caliber, which makes setup a snap.

I've had a Giraud for a few years. I only swap calibers for my high volume stuff and have complete cutters for those. When you develop a rhythm you can do 14 to 16 cases a minute at a sustained rate. Sure, you encounter a longer neck occasionally or fumble a case and break your rhythm, but its fast. I start with a pile of cases on my left side and a tub on my right side. I'll pick up a case with my left hand and place it in the shell holder and reach for another while my right hand pushes the case against the trimmer, rotates it and dumps it in the tub. It cuts to within .001 once you get the hang of it.

The Giraud indexes off the shoulder, right? Seems like it would be ideal for prepping cases to be neck turned, assuming the turner uses the case mouth to stop the cutter.

True assumption. Works very well for me in that role. The shoulder cut is very uniform.

I use it, but as stated previously, only for the high volume stuff. For less than 60 rounds, I'll just use the Wilson. The Giraud is great for cranking out 200-300 trimmed cases in an evening. The caliber conversions are well worth the $35, and the customer support is pretty high-end.

I trimmed 400 pieces today. Can't imagine doing that with a hand crank. It does index off the shoulder and is great for neck turning. I also trim brass every firing.

Giraud trimmer and Bench Source annealer are two things I would not want to be without.

I have one and I can trim and chanfer one piece of brass about every 10 seconds. it is the best piece of reloading equipment I ever bought. Highly recommend.
