Anyone using prvi partizan 7-08 ammo? Read!!!!!!!

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
I recently bought(last season) 4 boxes of this ammo for a unplanned hunt in rifle country.I hunt with an encore pistol in 7-08 and needed something quick and that was what they had.I sighted in with a box and a half for fun. I recently started to get ready to reload this brass. With the naked eye it looked like the brass had splits in the necks.(I realize this is garbage ammo) I trimmed one and it looked worse so I got my magnavisor on and discovered that it was more than splits. At first look ,the necks looked way to dark as all the prvi stuff is annealed from the factory.I can honestly tell you from a guy with a benchsource annealing system, something is wrong.I inspected the rest of the emptys and found that the brass is overannealed and dangerous in my mind.I am throwing it all away as it isnt worth writing the company to dispute it.The necks are dull and really crystallized. It is a shame as alot of places push this stuff to make a quick sale for more profit. I would advise anyone using this brass and even other calibers should beware as it is from serbia and I doubt they have stringent quality control. I now know when the benchsource is running I am doing a superior job compared to the eastern bloc countrys who dont care if your gun sustains damage. They are not going to reimburse anyone for any reason. If anyone cares to comment let me know. The box says 7mm-08/PSP BT 140grain/2 cards reading 102/0902 in the box/400E30-1400416 on the inside of the flap and that is all.Inside the other flap reads:400001. Some boxes look alittle better than others but highly recommend complaining to your distributors about the apparent lack of quality. IMHO!

Ive used hundreds of prvi in .223 and never had any problems. The brass always looks and performs as new.

The only bad thing I have to say about privi is after reloading a few hundred rounds is, there is brass inside of my die around the neck area that scarred my lapua brass.

Is it possible thats it once fired brass?

No ,it is new and they annealed the heck out of it.I just threw it in the scrap bucket.

I've shot about 2 boxes of the Prvi 7mm-08 and none of the brass showed the problem(s) you described. I've also reloaded Prvi brass in .270, 7.5x55, 30-06, 25-06 and 22-250 and all of them have performed flawlessly.

Do you have any pictures that you could post of the cases that you’re talking about? I have 3 boxes of this ammo in 7mm-08 and was thinking about reloading it. But from this post I might just throw it away as well and use my brand new Remington brass.
Thanks!
Siiri

Do you know if this same poor quality extends to their pistol ammo? I have a friend who can only find ammo for his 380 in prvi.

I am not saying that prvi is bad , just the garbage I bought.I have used wolf gold and it is made in the same factory and the stuff is really nice.Guess I learned my lesson.

Instead of throwing them away, throw them my way. I'll gladly take them off your hands. The Prvi 7mm-08 shoots great in my rifle and they're cheap in comparison to other ammo. Sorry the OP is having the problem because I haven't read about the neck issue anywhere else. For the price, I'll take Prvi over other eastern block ammo anyday.

As Siiri stated, if the OP could posts some pics of the problem, it would be very helpful.

I have tried to post pics and it says the file is to big.I dont know how to rectify it.

we're limited to 150kb for pics, to post pics on here I downloaded infra view which is recommended by the moderator to shrink pics

once its downloaded than you find the pic and resize, then save your downsized pic and you'll be able to post

http://irfanview.com/

You can also upload pics to a third party host such as tinypic.com . It has a larger file size limit. After uploading just paste the code starting and ending .

As noted above, www.irfanview.com software makes it easy to re-size photos. And 150 KB is plenty big for forum jpeg files.

I have been reloading Privi Partizan 30-06 brass for my Garand for a little while now. Gone through a couple hundred cases so far without any problems.

I also have some 7.62x54r that I have not reloaded yet but it looks fine.

Maybe you got a bad batch.

Edited to add, if you email the pics to me I can upload them to my photobucket account and add them to a post in this thread.
