Anyone using "Dr. Bag Stabilizer"? Question about height addition....

I am currently using a protektor rear bag with the integrated handle (black and yellow color). Sometimes I am needing to adjust the height a little higher and was considering getting the "Dr. Bag Stabilizer" by protektor to use primarily as a height adjuster as well as giving some extra stabilization as a secondary function. Reading the description it appears there is a sand-filled edge to nestle the rear bag inside of that is higher than the middle portion. My question is how much height does the stabilizer actually lift the rear bag up? I can't tell if there is some decent thickness in the middle part or if the only thing this device does is stabilize a rear bag? About how much does the stabilizer increase the height of the bag, assuming it does indeed do that. I was hoping it might be an inch.

I have one of the original stabilizer bags (long before Dr. Bag) offered by Skip Otto. The are a square donut filled with sand and approx 3/4 inch tall. The middle of mine is just a thin layer of leather.

I have one. It’s better than a piece of wood but not quite what I hoped. I had Protektor make one for my needs. I couldn’t be happier.

Go to Tractor Supply and get a piece of horse mat. Trace out the bottom of your bag and cut out with a skill saw, then cut a second piece the same size and glue and screw together, it will now be about an inch high. You now have a stabilizer and height adjuster for a lot less money.

A little better explanation- if the bottom of your bag is say 6" square cut the piece 6 1/2" sq. trace and cut hole, then cut second piece 6 1/2" sq. and put the 2 pieces together. You now have the stabilizer and height you need.

I have one. I use it for two reasons, height isn’t one of them. It’s to even out a knobby or rough berm. 2nd is to be able to consistently setup my rifle after relays are over.

It’s a solid product. Both of mine leak small amounts of sand.

I am moving away from this product for two reasons, 1 is I found a better rear bag than the protector stuff, so I’m getting one that matches my bag and it leaks sand.

It takes them no longer to make a custom bag over a normal one. I had a DR bag made 1” shorter. They are great people.

I wanted a 5.5” bumble bee with a 3/8” spacing. I had it in less than a week.
The cost was $154 delivered. I couldn’t be happier. They were great to work with.

Dang, in a former life I threw away countless pieces like this where I notched the mats around posts in the stall. I could really use a few of them now.
