Anyone using an 6SLR or 6CM with lighter bullets

87 grain Hornady and 43.5 grains of H4831SC work well for a mild load, never shot anything lighter than that...

The last time I talked to Joe Hendricks he told me he was shooting a lighter bullet for out to 300 yards in XTC. I'm not sure of the weight or powder. But it is working for him out of his 6CM.

I loaded some 62grn varmint grenades in my 6slr using the 243win load data and it gave me excellent velocities and accuracy. I just used them on wood chucks. Wouldn't advise their use on coyotes.

Thanks guys I'm trying to figure out if it would be worth all the extra $ in dies and such to go to one of these for varmints. I think the CM would give me a little more velocity though from what I've read.

I would agree, the competition match will give you a little more velocity. I like the 6slr just because of ease in brass prep. But if you want a bit more case capacity and velocity go with the 6compmatch.

No big deal forming cases for the 6SLR - just run them thru the die (and a 6XC die screwed out .122" will work) and shoot them. No fire forming involved.

I've said this many times, and this is coming from a dedicated 6CM shooter. If there was no 6CM I would be shooting the 6SLR. You talk about simplicity. Another note, don't let f.f. keep you from shooting a topnotch cartridge like the 6CM.
